Opinions?

I doubt the Nets do this and I know Phoenix would outbid us for Russell if they put him on the block.

+ char throws in a couple of 2nds

I think you need to throw in Bacon as well at least. Still don't think they would do it. I like the direction of this move but I think Bacon and a 1st would be required. If we could do this for Bacon and a 1st I would because it would give us a chance to try to keep Lamb and Kemba this offseason.

Posted this exact same trade a couple weeks ago. I think Batum fits in well with N.O.

Trade #1
Batum and a protected 1st to Washington for Otto Porter

Trade #2
Biz, Monk, & Frank to Atlanta for Kent Bazemore & Dewayne Dedmon

The goal for Charlotte here is add more two way players to the starting roster. No more Nic not shooting or Lamb missing an assignment on D. Neither guy is amazing, but together they bring a much better balance to the starting roster. Dedmon ensures that the big man rotation doesn't get too thin and comes off the books next summer.

Washington gets a starter on a similar contract back who will potentially fit better and a pick for Porter. Atlanta doesn't get a pick for Bazemore, but they do get two young guys that can grow with their recent picks.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I'd do both of those deals.

Lamb is better than Bazemore imo. I wouldn't give up on Monk for a 29 year old backup 3&D guy.

You are giving up on Monk for a 3&D guy and a bit of salary relief to make resigning Kemba easier.

Honestly, I'm not 100% sold on giving up on Monk. Part of why I posted the trade was to see what folks here thought of that in particular. Some days I'm more ready to move on from him than others.

Edit - I'm also not sure that Lamb is 'better' than Bazemore. Bazemore is a decent defender who can also pass and shoot well. Lamb might be a better shot creator, but he also might be gone next summer.

I think swapping Batum for Porter would do wonders for this team. The only things I would be worried about if we pulled that off was cap flexibility and finding a backup PG that fits defensively with Kemba and Monk.

I wouldn’t mind taking a flyer on Skal from Sacramento on a Cho like deal if we couldn’t just get him as fodder in a bigger deal.

Batum and a pick for Porter works for me but I would not give up Monk for Bazemore. If I am giving up a young player I feel like I want to be 100% certain that I am upgrading somewhere and I am not sold that Bazemore is much of an upgrade for us.

BLOW IT UP

Kemba Walker, MKG, and 2nd round pick

for

Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, and Michael Porter Jr.

I would move current wings before anything and see how it looks like.

something like this could work, no idea what kind of sweetener could be added (if anything, as such trade would help both teams).

Making us a better team wouldn't be blowing it up.

We would at least have to offer monk and bacon instead of a 2nd.

I would definitely do the Denver trade for Kemba provided we don't have to give up our young guys. It would not be a rebuild and I believe the team may be better quicker. There is no way Kupchak will pay Kemba the max to try to fight for the 8th seed. It would be foolish. Without getting the max or close to the max, I would expect Kemba to go home to the Knicks. They are putting together a talented young roster and Kemba would make them very good. I wish Knox would have fell to the Hornets as he appears to be a big time scorer and probably would have been what we needed to be more competitive and maybe be able to justify keeping Kemba. I like Bridges but he does not appear to be a natural shooter and scorer and there is some concern that Monk will never develop into the consistent scorer that we need. Time will tell on those two draft picks. If not stuck with Diaw 2.0 and CZ's long term contracts, we could probably keep Kemba and I would probably feel differently about trading him.

What about

Burks/Henson/Hood for Batum/protected 1st/filler at the deadline?

Clears 15 million off the books next year and Batum’s last year.
