Oubre says he has a 7'2.5'' wingspan. I believe it.

Wish him the best of luck. He needs more consistency overall, but if he learns to play within himself, he'll have a nice long career.

Phoenix got a win in Oubre’s debut – and he played a huge role in the outcome.

“Perfect,” said Ayton in describing Oubre’s first game with Phoenix. “Played hard. His effort. Covered all his mistakes. Him talking. It’s like he’s been on the team. Him being confident in everything that he did.”

It’s way too early to even think about who got the better end of the deal, but Phoenix is certainly happy with its newest teammate.

“I’ve been watching Kelly play for so long now,” said Booker, who was in the same 2015 draft class as Oubre. “It’s nothing new to me. His versatility. Being able to do everything out there on the court. Deflections, hitting big shots in the game. A little bit of everything.”

Oubre was part of the Phoenix’s closing lineup with Booker, Jackson, Ayton and Warren. While Jackson believes the Suns have multiple lineups to close out games, he had to admit it “looked good.”

Warren agrees.

“Like coach always says, it’s position-less basketball,” he said. “That’s where the league is going. We emphasized that tonight and really looked good out there. It’s kind of scary.”

Biggest surprise watching Oubre in his first game for me was his size. JJ and Bridges are listed at 6'7", Ariza and TJ at 6'8". Kelly is listed at 6'7 but clearly plays the biggest of all 5 of these guys.

Oubre's a stretch 4, y'all. Dude was getting his hands everywhere on defense. That's... what we needed. Wow.

I like Kelly's fit with the second unit. Kelly, Josh, Richaun really seem to amp things up defensively. Movement and energy on offense seems great. We might end up having to pay this man and Holmes.

Those on- and off-court adjustments are why Suns coach Igor Kokoskov sat with Oubre for a lengthy chat at the end of Tuesday morning’s shootaround. They touched base about “everything,” from the upcoming game plan to how he is settling in Phoenix during the busy NBA grind.

“I haven’t really spent much time (with him) since he got here,” Kokoskov acknowledged. Added Oubre: “(Kokoskov) knows a transition like this is pretty difficult. He was pretty much just telling me that I just gotta go out there and play, to get out of my own head.”

Oubre clearly received — and applied — his coach’s message. He attributed his career performance to being more decisive in finding his ideal spots on the floor, a sign he is gaining comfort with a new system and new teammates.

Anybody who watched him play before or talked to Wizards fans could tell me if Oubre always plays as hard like he do on the Suns or do he only do it for his contract year?

He's always gone through ups and downs and was pretty inconsistent. From what I read on the Wizards board when the trade went down, some were happy to see him go..I don't recall reading about anyone not liking having lost him....or at least cared much, which says quite a bit for a young guy you had the rights to, and only getting an older expiring vet for him.

Sounds like he hasn't made it completely through the bar scene in Phoenix yet.

Please don't resign him! His shoes has more BBIQ than him. And I hate how he takes the unsportmanship shots when the game is over :banghead:

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

“Why would I go anywhere else?” Oubre said when asked if Phoenix was his preferred destination across the entire NBA. “I’m here, I’m getting established and I’m not a guy that really wants to be on a million teams in my tenure in the league and I just want to create a dynasty and a legacy here in Phoenix with [Deandre Ayton], [Devin Booker], [Mikal Bridges], all the guys in the locker room. It’s beautiful.”

“Here I can kind of solidify myself and just show the world that I’m a player — I’m not just a pretty face,” Oubre said.
“I’m just so happy that Phoenix, James (Jones) made the call and traded for me to come to Phoenix man because that was the biggest blessing of my career so far.”

“One-hundred percent I would love to remain Phoenix,” Oubre said. “The money and all that stuff is above my head right now. I’m just trying to focus on these last 17 games so that I can prove myself and show that I’m worth every penny thrown at me.”

Yeah, I listened. He talked about how the culture is so great in family, etc, and how he wanted to be here 100% and over any other team (when asked)...not that he'd say "I'd love to play for ________"....but it sounded genuine. But I think most of the players here want to be here as well.

But the positive attitude can be infectious and keep spirits high. It will be interesting because if we keep our pick and keep his cap hold, we have less than $10 million in cap space, so we won't be able to do much without trading someone without taking back salary or waiving stretching Johnson.

Washington must be horrible to be in if Oubre is loving Phoenix.

It is good to hear from an outsider that the culture is great in Phoenix even though we're losing
