Re: Around The League News And Rumors (Non-Braves)
Mets and Braves out of it for Realmuto. Braves didn't like the price and were out of it when the signed B Mac.
Mets signed Ramos, they also didn't like the extreme high price for Realmuto.

I thought Brantley (2/32) and McCutcheon (3/45) are solid OFers at this point who went for more than I would have paid.

Re: Around The League News And Rumors (Non-Braves)
Brantley deal isn't bad, Philly paid too much for McCutchen though.
If Braves going the cheap route, I'm good with Markakis or Carlos Gonzalez on 1-2 yr deal. If not cheap route, go get me Haniger.

The young nucleus is the reason we can afford to get a free agent like Bryce. Again, our payroll is far less than most of the quality teams in MLB. We've got 3... count them... 3 outfielders on the 40 man roster - let alone the 25 man roster, and one of them is DuVall - who was beyond bad for the Braves last season. The "young nucleus" needs reinforcements in the OF. Obviously Bryce isn't the only option, but if you don't want him, who do you want?

I just can't see the Braves out-bidding everyone for him next year, and I would not trade a fortune for him as a rental. As much as Harper and Machado are getting, Trout's going to get more - probably a LOT more. We're talking possibly $500 million. I mean, the Yankees have Stanton and Judge at the corner OF spots - Trout would give them a historic OF. The Red Sox might get in the bidding. The Dodgers.

Well I need Mark Zuckerberg money then, so I can buy the team and up the payroll.
Some have wondered if the Braves would get in on Machado/Harper. If they could afford one of them, they can afford Trout. The only real big contract on the books is Freeman, with around 4 years left on that at just under $17 mill per.

Re: Around The League News And Rumors (Non-Braves)
Even if the Braves don't out-bid the Braves by much, would Trout pick the Braves over the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers? Probably not.
I could live with settling for Harper - considering Harper is a 6 time all-star and 1 time MVP who just turned 26. I mean... we're likely competing with... Philly. Maybe the Mets?

Yankees? Probably not. Philly? Probably not. Red Sox? maybe they have a ton of players becoming free agents over then next 3 years, including Sale, JD, a few others and an extension for Betts. Same with the Dodgers, they are getting older and older and Kershaw is winding down.
The Braves roster is much younger with younger talent. Why not come play with our 2 superstars Freeman and Acuna?

Can we get Puig from the Reds? He’s probably a top 5 non Brave of mine in the league.
