I'm really disappointed that they didn't even consider Murphy. He's exactly the type of contact hitter that this team needs. He can also provide insurance at 1B at times.

any machado deal would have an opt out, longer deal just means more money for him in case something really bad happens to him.

how important those last 2 years is to a player of his caliber is an interesting question. it's basically just insurance.

Since Harper and Machado wants to come here so much, we should low ball them and make them accept 20M each for 8 years lol but seriously I think we have all the leverage here. I highly doubt we give them a 300M 10 year deal, maybe 200M for 8 years will do.

they could really use machado. harper provides electric offensive upside but he's more of a luxury
