:nonono: Less those two play the better.

I hope Oubre scores 30+ points.

Why are people so upset Oubre got traded?

We wouldn’t have been able to resign him after the season regardless.

I think many feel we could have gotten better value for him.

Personally, I'm not so sure about that but whatever.......

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Oubre isn't a good player right now (if you want to win) but is still young and if he gets any consistency to his shot and works on his defense/IQ he has a spot in this league. It took McGee years to figure things out but finally he understands his role and is a solid player.

And of course you have to remember that we traded up (giving up 2016 and 2019 2nds) to get him and now we have 33 year old Ariza who very likely leaves the team next summer to join a contender. If you are a real contender you can make trades like these but these freaking Wizards are trying to make the playoffs. Think about that.

The odds are high that Oubre's next contract will be an overpay relative to his actual worth, even if he does improve quite a bit.

I don't mind that we traded Oubre. I'm really annoyed with the way EG bungled the trade. He had arranged for a trade that brought back Ariza AND a 2nd round pick, but through ineptitude, lost the pick. Then he was forced to make the trade anyway because keeping Rivers and Oubre around after failing to trade them would have been untenable for a team that already had such a terrible locker room.

Deal with untenable.

Marshon Brooks is still a Memphis Grizzlies player.

All the BS about an uncomfortable locker room galls me. Try living on disability. Alone. Fighting for your life just to maintain wellness...

Ernie and Ted are IN MY OPINION pompous and want to save face so they caved. No picks no problem. Can't have hurt feelings players in lockers. Nope. Would have to face the player you want to kick to the curb. Plus, DESPERATE EG AND TEDDY have to save face with veteran Arenas. Their faulty assumptions are this player is leaps and bounds better than Kelly.

Dumb and dumber.

Twenty-three and still figuring it out. Full of heart and hustle. Poor coach. Poor organization. Dumb GM gotta move cuz he overspent on garbage players...

Let me stop this rant.

God did Kelly Oubre a solid. Ariza will land on his feet. Myopic Ted and EG got what they wanted--a short-term, different brand of duct tape.

They should have waited for a better Kelly deal. Where EG farted is he really wanted Rivers gone. Couldn't waive him cuz that would further highlight a most recent mistake signing. Good money spent on bad product.

What difference does it make when you keep your job?

Oubre hit the game clinching shot over Boston in Boston.. had 4 deflections, played great defense.

Suns fans are happy with him. I'm sorry your owner sucks, ours does too so I feel u on that.

This EG debacle is some old Robert Sarver junk. we both need new owners badly.

Anybody can be traded; it's all a matter of the deal. But, even if we weren't going to be able to re-sign Oubre with our current salary structure, that doesn't mean either that he should be traded or -- certainly not! -- that he be traded for essentially nothing, i.e. an expiring salary.

For starters, why weren't we going to be able keep Oubre? Don't other teams (some with better records than 12-20) manage to keep their R1 picks?

Obviously, the one biggest reason is that we have signed John to a super-max. The 2d biggest reason is that we signed Ian Mahinmi to a 4-year $65m contract that will have us paying him $15.5m next year.

You would think that our owing a guaranteed $111m+ to 5 players next year was a problem visited on us by an outside force rather than simple 3d grade arithmetic fully describing decisions made by Ernie Grunfeld. Made intentionally. Without a gun to his head.

Then there are Howard, Satoransky, Dekker & Bryant. Assuming for a moment that Howard picks up his $5.63m option, & that all we do is pick up the options we have on the other 3. Which means that if we can keep them, they become expiring salaries.

That would put us at $126m+ for 9 players. With our '19 R1 pick, we would be knocking on the luxury tax door with 10 players.

But of course we won't simply pick up Sato's option or Bryant's option -- at least I hope to God we won't! We'll try to extend them. Dekker too, given how he's playing.

In short, we will be over the luxury tax next year with 10 players. Meanwhile, Ernie has pissed away every one of our R2 picks for the next several years.

But, Ernie has known this -- most of it, anyway -- for some time. Meaning that the time to trade Oubre was long ago. But, meaning, really, that it was the time to fire Ernie long ago. His work of the last few weeks is right on a par with his Summer 2016 FA signings & the other colossal blunders that define his regime.

He went 4-12 I believe. 13 points on 12 shots & 4 FTs. Nothing good about that, no matter when the makes & misses happened.

But, yes, he has talent, is still young, & you will be able to extend him.

IOW, you acquired an asset. For which you gave an expiring salary, i.e. nothing. A great trade for you.

OTOH, we gave an access & got back an expiring salary, i.e. nothing. An awful trade for us.

Hey Sunsfever --

I wonder whether you guys would have given us Richaun Holmes for Oubre rather than Ariza.... I.e. how is he regarded? He is playing extremely well for you (not a surprise to me).

How about waiting where the market goes for him rather than writing him off prematurely?

Oubre is a RFA, and then there's the chance of a sign and trade we've basically shut the door on as well.

Eh, fully expecting Oubre to kill this soft defense one way or the other.

Holmes has been great for us. He is a very hard working energy guy that makes a difference in the games and also in all likelihood pushes Ayton a lot in practice. He is a keeper for us. So no. We would not have done that deal.

I am convinced that the Ariza you get will be better than the Ariza we had though. He did not want to be here from the moment he walked into the facility. He was clearly uninspired. There was something personal going on early that none of us know about. He seems to be a good guy, so why he dogged it here, I do not really know. But he will probably play well for you.
