How many Hawks Fans would NOT select Luka Doncic if he somehow fell to #3?

I'm going to make the same excuses for Trae that I made for Marvin in his rookie year and just forget all his rookie numbers and just expect him to be a 20/10 guy in his second year.

For sure this can't happen twice to the Hawks, first with Chris Paul and now with Doncic???

The latter is easily a generational talent and we fecked up for giving him away for a significally inferior player in Trae Young, which will go down as one of the worst trade in NBA history. Luka Doncic, if he doesn't get serious injuries, can surpass Dirk Nowitzki and make into the GOAT conversation while clearly being the best player in the next decade or so.

If Trae Young was lighting up the NBA and Luka was struggling, following a divisive draft day trade, then yes the Mavs board would absolutely have a thread about it.

It was just very obvious Doncic was going to be a star.

Not saying Trae will never get there. But man, you really are taking a big risk when you do a draft day deal and trade away a potential player of that caliber.

Still eating my crow. This kid is way better than a Joe Johnson. He’s a legit star. I still like Trae better in the long term, but Luka is hitting the ground running.

Don't want this to be a knock on Trae, because he is playing a lot more composed lately, which is awesome to see. But in your opinion, how is Trae better long term? Luka is basically already an all star in eastern conference... Or do you really believe he will go backwards from here on?

I mean did you watch him in Real Madrid? He improves each season at an unbelievable rate.

I didn’t watch him super closely at Madrid. I didn’t say that as a knock on Luka either. I just think we will be talking about Trae as a top 3-ish PG in about 4-5 years. I just think Trae will make huge strides, while Luka continues to make gradual incremental improvements. I think they’re just at different points on their own development curves and Luka is ahead of Trae (and most other rookies) having pro experience.

Gradual improvements from 20/7/5 player is top20 player very soon.

Vast majority of rookies will never reach 20/7/5 numbers.

The biggest difference between Trae and Luka will always remain, under sized Pg vs. 6’8”, 230 Pg.

If I felt like my favorite team swindled some other team (or that team was swindled out of my favorite player), I definitely wouldn't feel the need to constantly remind them on their board. That's a weird level of insecurity and/or just being a dick. Surely you have something better to do with your time. :dontknow:

I know Mavs fans definitely have more to worry about in the world of basketball right now.

I'm worried about Trae, especially on the defensive end.
