C’mon Pepe. If I were to use the same argument with AG last year “17 ppg, 7 rpg, 2.3 apg, 22 years old, Uber athletic, nice kid overall, improving every year” you would have quoted me with a page long response explaining why none of that mattered

He is shooting 40% for his career and 32% from 3. His percentages are a bit up this year playing a smaller role and next to Doncic but considering the fact that we would probably have to give up Vuc/Ross (maybe both), plus Isaac or Bamba it’s hard for me to see a world where his percentages don’t drop below 40% here.

He is flashy and has upside as a high volume somewhat inefficient score first guard (Westbrooke light?) but I think the athleticism fuels the hype train a bit similar to AG. I’d be open to trade for him but I’m not convinced that he is the answer to all our problems.

Much easier trading someone on a rookie deal than trading someone making 23 million this year, especially in a deal for another young player.

AG makes 21.5 this year and it's a front loaded contract, so he will earn 20, 18 and 16.5mi in the next seasons.

I'd be willing to take DSJ, loved him as prospect going into draft last year. Not sure what it would take, but my bet is Mavs would ask for Isaac. It would be a risky move for both sides, too early in their respective careers to know who may succeed or bust among them.

DLo will get payed in few months. And given situation with other teams and their PGs he might go to $16M a year or even more easly.

Gordon plays his 5th nba season. I also never ever said Gordon sucks . My argument with others here was always his , to me, non existing star potential.
" new Leonard, new George" and things like that.

I mean it's pace and space league ,PG with that type of hoops and ability to play 1 on 1 and not terrible shooter could easly translate into star player. It's not like he has some clear problem in his game, he is just 20 years old dude playing on West, against guys like Curry, Harden, Cp3, Lillard, Conley ofc he gets runned over from time to time lol

I get what they're trying to do, trying to make it a thing, and it may work because the casual fan seeing this will most likely be discouraged or not enticed to actually vote. I think DSJr is a good prospect Orlando should be shooting for considering there aren’t many young guards out there, with exceptional skill sets, there that are available. It all depends on what they feel his projection will be a few years from now. He does play in the west against the best guards in the league and still puts up starting caliber numbers.

I would like the move because it would make Orlando’s draft strategy less reliant on merely selecting the best guard instead of whoever will help most. They would have to select a guard if they didn’t make a trade at this juncture. It’s painfully obvious. Like another poster said before, trading for DSJr will make WeHam look extremely incompetent (which they are), so who knows if they’ll buy into DSJr as an “eating crow” move.

As far as these AG comparisons, you can’t survive in this league without a starting caliber guard and/or a really good wing that does it all. AG is neither of those things and DSJr might be. There’s enough data on AG to know what he can and can’t do. I can’t say the same for DSJr after 90 games in the nba. Does he solve all of the issues this roster might have? No, but it’s a start.
