Nets did the right thing in trading Lin if nothing else because of the PG logjam. And picking up the 1st and 2nd from DEN, and the 2nd from PHX were coups -- for the cost of only a 2nd and Lin (esp given his $13.5 contact).
But Hawks decision to trade for Lin is also now looking a lot less foolish than it did that night. Instead of the DEN 1st, Hawks got a 1st from OKC in a better draft year, and now there is an outside chance they may be able to get another 1st for Lin. And Lin has also done a good job playing the role they needed from him - acting as a stabilizer and mentor on their young team.
the first wouldnt be for lin, it would be for taking knight who is due 15M (lin expires).
Lins value is as an expiring contract, in that regard his value will increase as it gets closer to the deadline. when we traded line, he had a year left
Rockets are trying to get a 3D wing for Knight+1st (no one is biting) ... so you're right Knight is one of the minuses of the above reported trade discussion, but this trade scenario is also a complete non starter and would not even have been discussed if Lin did not have trade value
Nets made right choice to do Lin trade as I said above - all Im saying ATL's decision to make Lin trade was not as crazy as it seemed at the time. The assumptions that Lin would be terrible this year (see Zach Lowe after 2 weeks of season ) have turned out to be untrue
