The Tyreke Evans Problem
We have a thread for Myles and a Thread for Doug and DC gets bashed everywhere at least by Vorda. Tyreke's signing was hailed as a league wide coup and yet he continues to struggle. Vic's injury could have given him a chance to shine, but it hasn't. Sure he can PnR with Damos but who couldn't? Is this a square peg in a round hole, or is McMillan missing something?

I was listening to JMV on Friday. He made a good point to give it a little time because everyone said Bogey didn't fit last year until he did.

When is a guy useful because he can create something off the dribble for himself or someone else and when are his hands sticky to the point of being counter productive to the team's offense? Right now, Tyreke is on the wrong side of the line.

In the Lakers game he looked like he had spent all night at the club.

I expected him to play well since Oladipo was out, because it was a similar situation to what he had last year in Memphis with Conley out, but he's been even worse than when he plays off the bench.
He's still playing for a contract so I don't understand why he's so bad.

All I can say is I'm glad they only gave him a 1 year deal. He's been a huge disappointment so far. He just looks a bit lazy and selfish.
If he could be moved I'd be looking for a deal, can't trade him till Dec 15th, one week from now.

Why is he still getting minutes ?
With Oladipo back, Holiday should play instead of him.

So far he's had what, two good games for us? He's been a major disappointment and it's not a just missing shots issue. Not finishing at the rim is frustrating, but at least he's getting there and putting the defense in a bad position. It's the fadeaway long 2s that need to stop and are disrupting the offense.

I've lost all hope.
I have no idea what has happened to this man, hopefully we can ship him out for a 2nd or something.

Re: The Tyreke Evans Problem
He's a 1-year, so moving him doesn't make too much sense.
Tyreke started off well. then he got suspended for a game for being late to practice. He hasn't been the same since. I think he's really uncomfortable. Not saying we should kiddie-gloves him, but I suspect he's the odd one out in the locker room and he's more sensitive than his stoic demeanor suggests.

Re: The Tyreke Evans Problem
why haven't we tried Sumner or Reed? Evans better in practice?

The coaching staff is probably hoping he will regain some form as the year goes on, but I think his minutes right now would be much better served developing Holiday.

Re: The Tyreke Evans Problem
To me it doesn’t look like he is having much fun when he’s on the court. He has always been a player that has to have the ball in his hands to be effective and the Pacers are a team that is more effective when we are moving the ball. I’m just wondering if sooner or later he gets the mind set that he is playing for his next contract and it becomes more about him, which i hope Nate doesn’t let happen. I had big hopes for him working for us but the more games we play it seems like we are trying to put a square peg in a round hole. A believe a player like Courtney Lee would be a better fit, maybe get a young player back for taking on extra year of Lee.

Their young guys are too valuable to be throw ins (Ntilikina, Knox, Robinson, even Dotson). Likely a 2nd or two at best is what New York could offer.

Any idea if Memphis would want him back?

Re: The Tyreke Evans Problem
he was a different player in Atlanta after having fluid removed from knee. I hope he's been playing hurt and we wind up apologizing for doubting him.

There is no problem here... one more useless topic... Evans is good 6th man, much better than crazy Lance...

Re: The Tyreke Evans Problem
If Tyreke continues to play like he did last night, i'll happily eat my words and be happy to have him around.
In all seriousness, it seems like that knee really was holding him back. He still had the confidence to drive, but was letting the game come naturally to him. Made some big threes and some solid passes.

Re: The Tyreke Evans Problem
I'm not really sure how getting a knee injection reminds a basketball player how to pass the ball, but I'm certainly not complaining about the results.
