Hate to disagree with you on this deal although I would love it for the Hornets...Dallas would be the laughing stock of the league if they accepted Monk, Batum, and Lee for Smith and Barnes.

Batum is like a walking zombie and Marv's game is so limited that the defender can play him anyway he likes. Bridges isn't ready to take over the starting role, so find me a good starting SF or PF who can score 20+ everynight and my outlook for this season will change completely. On a related topic, I'd really like to tank for Zion.

Setting screens and occasionally dunking but bad rebounding/defense plus turnovers and getting blocked all the time is not worth 15M a year for 3 years after this one. Rather just have a pure rebounder who can occasionally catch passes and lobs.

Or go for broke and try to get Marc Gasol or Vucevic

How about trading Batum for Chandler Parsons straight up. There salaries are about the same and Parsons will expire next year while Batum will have two years left. It will get Batum out of our sight and maybe Parsons has something left in the tank as he was a good scorer at one time.

Let's look at this from a futures perspective. What teams in the East are most likely to be dominant for the next 5 years? I'd go Milwaukee, Philly, and Boston. To combat Milwaukee and Philly, we are going to need guys who can play big. Embiid and Giannis embarrass people everynight just by using their length. Boston plays more of a team game led by Tatum, Irving, and Horford.

Looking at those players, I want a 3 or 4 who is very athletically gifted and has some great length.

Guys that could be traded that fit that mold: Robert Covington, Paul Millsap, Rudy Gay, Larry Nance Jr.

I'd be happy with adding anyone of those guys and think we could do some damage in the playoffs. Trade draft picks to make it happen. Nance and Gay are probably the easiest get.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

Knick’s would have to add a protected future 1st to the Mavs as well (sorry, left that out).

Knicks, by far, get the best player in this deal who is also a hometown kid so would have to offset the value of the players coming in by sending a 1st to Dallas.

I think Kemba and Batum to Mavs for Smith and Barnes is a really fair deal.

I agree and maybe add Cody for Wesley Mathews. Gets DSJ, get rid of Cody's contract, and cut a year off Batums contract

If we go into blow it up mode, would you trade Lamb for Fultz?

I believe he’ll make something like make like 9.7 million next year, so Philly will save some money and get someone who can contribute this season

Yes, and I have actually posted this idea on the Philly board a couple weeks ago

Do any of these deals make sense from the Hornets end?

Holiday and/or Portis for Monk/filler (what we're sending is so flakey because I'm not sure exactly how high/low to be on Monk)

Dunn, Portis, Holiday for Bridges, Biyombo

Parker, Holiday, Payne for Batum, Bridges, Monk, 2019 1st

I'm not sure that anyone here would really want to trade Bridges. Including him in any deal is pretty much a non-starter for 99% of folks here I doubt that you will find many takers unless the offer is crazy good.

Monk is kind of oddball here. He represents both a young player who is developing (important if Kemba leaves) and someone the team sometimes counts on to score now. While there are folks down on him on the board here, the reality is that any trade involving him has to return something important ... either a guy who can help Kemba win now in a real way, a solid salary dump that will help keep Kemba, etc.

2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu

Still want Nerlens Noel to be our starting C. Cho robbed me of that. I’m tired of Cody at the moment. Kupchak make it happen.

Noel is trash, he tries to block every shot and is not a good offensive player. I would rather have Cody, at least he has a high IQ and willing to do grunt work.

I think it makes sense. I like Portis a lot but we're obviously very big-heavy right now so it makes sense to see what we can get. And of course Holiday can come right in and backup the 2, more NBA ready than Monk is now.

How do you guys feel about Monk at this point? As far as I've gathered he's shown glimpses of high level of scoring/shooting, but isn't efficient/consistent yet, and doesn't really project to contribute in any other way (might develop some ability as a initiator/passer but won't play defense, rebound or any of those other areas).

Maybe that one was asking for too much - guess I just look at that Batum contract as such a killer.

Fwiw I think that's a fair return for Beal, just depends which direction you want to go with the roster.

Wall is out for the season, now is the time to call about Beal to get Kemba some help
