The obvious #SoWizards scenario from here is that they go on a run and make the playoffs. How could anyone fire Ernie or Brooks if the team is able to overcome so much adversity?

Im not making any trade scenarios or draft status ish cause were gonna rally and make the 8th seed in a #SoWizards way we normally do it. Ernie will trade our 1st for Kent Bazemore or someone like that

SAS really thinks Wall dipped on the season because he didn't want to be blamed for the teams record. That's the least John Wall thing to do.

My condolences to you guys. Wall's injury can end up actually hurting the tank and helping Ernie stick around. Ron Baker and Randle are going to go all out. Beal and Porter will benefit from playing with game manager PG's.

A couple more: 1) At some point Brooks will be forced to play Troy Brown, who will make a clear contribution, 2) Ariza will make sure everyone is dialed in, especially on defense.

Beal must have an undisclosed bunyon. Grimace a hang nail.

This team must be made EG and Brooks proof.

Perhaps only the team doctor can do it.

I'm not too worried. EG is shortsighted and a terrible drafter, but he's not a total idiot. The path forward is as clear as can be: tank. EG knows this, and more importantly, Ted Leonsis knows this.

They will trade Ariza for luxtax relief and/or picks. They'll try and trade Morris too if they can find any takers. Green might be worth something as well. And the team won't be better without Wall. They might play harder and they'll have a "nothing to lose" attitude, but they don't have the talent. Once the post-Wall scouting report comes out, they won't win much.

My fear is that now they start playing Beal 40 minutes a night and push Otto to play more. End up with all 3 of them having ongoing health issues and still miss the playoffs but with a 9 or 10 seed.

While that's possible, I think Wall's injury has removed the sense of desperation from the team. They're not gonna make the playoffs and they know it, particularly after Ariza is traded. Brooks can let his team sink or swim with Beal playing 35 minutes.

If they get healthy, I don’t see why this rotation wouldn’t make the playoffs:

Sato
Beal Brown Jr
Ariza Dekker
Otto Green
Bryant Howard

All of Bryant/Dekker/Green are playing out of their minds this season. The talent level increases massively with Otto back healthy and Troy Brown Jr in the rotation. If we’re being honest, that team fully healthy+Wall not being terrible, would be a pretty well put together roster by Ernie.

That's the line of thinking that has Beal push harder for a trade, though. Wall gets hurt and you shut down the season? I'm sure a targeted tank would be okay but that's clearly not what's happening here. This team needs a restructuring at the very least but it isn't coming with Ernie around. The team is still going to push for the playoffs. It's what Ernie teams do. They're just going to be bad at pushing for them - another common trait among Ernie teams.

I'll say it again.... some person/faction in our FO is a solid talent evaluator. Troy Brown, Bryant, Green, Dekker, Devin Robinson, etc. are all great pickups. Our coach is a moron and doesnt play them enough, or correctly. Hell, even Rivers looks like a better player now with the Rockets.

Need to plug Randle in there as the backup to Sato. He's been fine in the limited minutes he's been getting...and he's probably one of the team's best 3 pt shooters.

Did the front office know John was so hurt and if so why the Ariza trade?

I was wrong about Kelly, thought this would be a break out year, he’s has lost himself some cash.

And some credit to EG for Bryant. Though we may have to stretch Ian to sign Bryant and others.

I doubt they trade for picks. Ernie doesn't value them. More likely they aim for at lesst slightly more proven if they get anything beyond lux tax relief. I think lux tax relief will be the primary goal and it's a goal I don't really care about given how the mess was created in the first place.

I also am not so sure Ernie tanks. He rately ever tanks even when it's a good idea - particularly not with a playoff spot in sight. His teams have been so bad that they've gotten top picks before but Ernie isn't a tanker by nature.
