Re: Around the NBA 2
Heard today on NBARadio that we are battling Cleveland for the worst defensive rating of all time! All time!
We’ve got to rid this team of the defensive liabilities,
Goodbye Kanter, Tammy, Burke, Mudiay, Mario.
None of these bums should be on the team next year.
Fiz should be embarrassed, I feel like beating his coconut head with those fake 3D glasses.

They help us tank, if they were even mediocre it would be "With the 12th pick the NewYork Knicks select.. " A minimum of 3 of those dudes will be gone. We could live with Mudiay (
Is he
A) Trade-able?
b) Available to be traded? Would Mills have the humility to admit and try to fix his mistake?

Your mad that Fiz is playing those defensive liabilities over...who exactly? You'll get over this when four of those five are gone after this season and we have a top 3 pick. If Fiz can't have success with KP, top 3 pick, and a top FA, then you can crush him.

Maybe that's why Marc Gasol was angry? Memphis offense is about slowing the game to a halt and play hard-nosed defense. Fizdale wasn't having that.

Not winning a game until Valentine's day, good luck to them if they keep up.

bottom 5 will be a dog fight.
good thing is the 6th worse record already has a 6 win cushion.

They're ok for this year, but should be moved. I agree.

Around the NBA 2
Can anybody explain to me why AD is still considered a top 5 player? Is it the coaching? We’re not going to blame the team because this is arguably the best team he’s had. So why are the pelicans still losing? Certainly a top 5 player should be able to elevate that team to greater heights than they are now. The way it looks now Pels may end up winning the draft lottery and pick Zion to keep AD in NO. Last point is I initially thought as a big man he would’nt have the same impact as a guard on the game. I thought that could explain why that team struggled. But then you see Jokic willing that team to wins. Yes, I know Nuggets are better overall, but they’ve also had a lot of injuries and they are still first place in the west.

It's actually a really good question. Is it AD or is it his team? Maybe a bit of both? The Jokic point is very good. When you watch the Nuggs play you see the impact he has on almost every possession, as if he's in total control of the game. I don't think AD is simply a good stat/bad team type of player, but you have to wonder why he's had such little success when his teams are actually pretty good.

He’s a Top 5 player because he’s statistically a Top 5 player. There’s no criteria for being one other than that. “Willing teams to wins” is a media narrative. He has the impact of a Top 5 player over the course of a 48 minute game period.

I’ll admit, I don’t watch many NO games. But you see that box score night after night and he’s putting up 2k numbers. Only thing I can say is I don’t really think AD has a “game”. He gets his points in a variety of ways all over the court. Maybe his teammates would play better if he had a go to move/game. Jokic literally plays pg out there, controlling the game. I see AD as a finisher mostly (nothing wrong with that). What’s the best way for him to play to get the most out of that team?

I don’t necessarily disagree with you. But sometimes stats don’t tell the whole story. I don’t think Melo was ever as bad as ESPN made him out to be: 60 worst player, whatever it was at that time. His production indicated he was much better than that. However the narrative suggested he wasn’t. I’ll never say AD is a bad player. I just don’t think he currently impacts the game as much as a Lebron, Curry, Harden, Kawhi, Giannis. That’s already 5 and I didn’t include KD. He’s a touch overrated as a self appointed best player in the game (his own admission).

Only Davis is second in the entire league in RPM and he’s number one in WINS. Literally a stat used to describe a player’s impact on wins. Melo’s isn’t a 2 way player and that’s why he was a polarizing figure.

Did appreciate the Tina homers saying that he could possibly make ASG, but he of course reverted back to the mean.

They have no SF, no bench whatsoever, no good SG. That NO team is ridiculously bad. Their PF is one most people here didn't want to sign last summer. They have Davis and a really good PG. Apart from that they rely on an undersized journeyman SG as their SF.
Davis is probably twice the player Jokic is and I'm watching both teams a lot. Of course people will come out now and talk about Jokic's impact with the ball in his hands and all that, but those people are mistaking "role" with "impact". That's not the same as offense is not the whole story and overall Davis is easily one of the ten most impactful players in the league.
Careful: I'm not saying Jokic is not impactful. However, Paul Millsap is one of their role players. Keep that in mind.
