Hence the dilemma, because if he does get it back then it's a major boost up.

Putting myself in his shoes for a moment, I'd be terrified about having that injury happen again. As a result I have a lot of tolerance with his not driving so hard. But I'm sure disappointed about his poor shooting.

Hayward doesn't really suck, he just sucks for a guy with the 4th biggest contract in the league.

We have to look past that for now and just try to see the positives.

All of this. At this point what can be done? We wait and hope for 80 percent Gordon by the playoffs.

I stand by my preseason prediction -- Gordon's gonna be our 2nd most valuable overall player come playoff time. I've been wrong a thousand times in this forum before so what's another one. He won't be Utah 2017 playoffs Gordon but he'll be pretty damn good come postseason. Once he can shoot the long ball with more consistency and he gets a bit of his burst back on those drives, he'll be more of a threat as a playmaker.

I’d send him down to the Red Claws until he could play as a rotation NBA player....and I love Gordo...

I guess we'll see.

On a side note, this C's forum isn't that brutal to Gordon at all IMO. I see a lot of support and concern here despite any frustrations and nitpicking.

I have seen people be pretty brutal towards Gordon on other C's forums and on twitter.

There's 0 chance that this guy on reddit knows more than the team doctors. If Ainge truly believed that it was physically impossible for Hayward to return to form, he'd be in a different jersey already

And who is trading for Hayward? Lol. Even if Danny got word that Hayward would never be the same, he’d still be a Celtic right now.

I agree with you bro. I've said multiple times here I'd attach multiple first rounders to get him off our team lol

Na. It’s not like we have other free agents we could grab with that money. Plus it’s a bad look to move him so fast. Also, doubt Brad would appreciate that. I think you keep him next season and use his expiring contract in a trade the following season if he still plays like trash

It's a player option which he will 100% pick up if he continues to suck ass

I thought the sky had fallen, the sun had blown up, and we'd reached the heat death of the universe with Gordon's shot never ever possibly coming back.

OR it takes awhile to come back from a horrific injury.

You can call me crazy, but I don’t think Gordon needs to be relegated to the Red Claws and I don’t think his teammates hate him. Maybe he just, you know, needs some time. Like more than just two months of playing five-on-five basketball after a year off.

But he is ridiculously inconsistent. He had zero points last game then 35 this game. His inconsistency is mind blowing.

Morris has easily been playing better than Hayward all season but has he dropped 35? No. But on the other hand has he scored absolutely zero? Doubt it, or has he dropped 5 or 6 point games regularly? No.

Is Hayward right now the most random, inconsistent player in the league? Serious question.

Is any other former All-Star coming back from a horrific injury on a roster overstuffed with repetitive wings?

What this guy on Reddit is saying is at least partly untrue. I remember after the injury happened the Celtics were clear that Hayward hadn't torn any ligaments

Look at his FGA is hard to get in rhythm when you are shooting 5-7 FG a game. Rozier and Brown hog all the shots when they play with him.

What does that have to do with anything? He's getting playing time and the opportunity to produce, but generally speaking he just isn't.

I honestly think his athleticism will never be what it once was and that Stevens should use him in a similar way he used Isaiah Thomas to get the best results on offense for him - that is run multiple screens for him to run off before getting the ball.

But then Hayward has to step up as well by increasing his percentage of shots made. His shooting has been awful, no way around it
