The depth on the DL is going to be awesome next season, especially with Lancaster balling out the end of the season.

I originally thought the packers wouldn't cut perry as he would still be owed 11 mil and would only save 3.7 mil this season. that is a lot to pay for someone to go away and only save 3.7 mil. Would rather see if he can bring something to the table next year. However, if they cut after june 1st the cap charges change significantly:
According to Over the Cap:

Cap charges:
2019 - 3.7 mil
2020 - 3.7 mil
2021 - 3.7 mil

Cap Savings
2019 10.7 mil
2020 10.6
2021 10.4 mil

I think they give perry the off season and mini camps then cut him if he doesn't show anything. That extra 10 mil savings could be used to resign guys like kenny clark.

The same can be said with jimmy graham. they save 9 mil in 2019 and 8 mil in 2020 if they cut him after june 1.

I love the depth as well. Lancaster, Lowry, Daniels and Clark make a good rotation and then you have guys like Fadol Brown that intrigue me. Still need to see more from Adams and hopefully Looney shows something as well. I wonder if we'll draft a D-lineman. Some good options at the end of the 1st and into the 2nd round. Guess it depends on value.

If they cut him it will be right away so they don't have to pay him a 4.8 million roster bonus. If he is on the team after the third day that 4.8 million is guaranteed. Cash savings is always considered even if the cap savings is not necessarily there in year 1.

I never looked up that stat but it does work with what goes through my mind whenever I see posts from people acting like our offensive line is horrible and in dire need (not that we couldn't use talent there as every team could)

That stat is pretty damning on both Rodgers and scheme

Boyle has a better chance of being decent than Kizer

For sure. I remember listening to it on a bus ride back from a school ski club trip at Black Jack in the UP and the entire bus went crazy when this play happened.

You might think the bus was going crazy because of that play but it's actually because they were leaving the UP.

David Bakhtiari: Not good enough to be selected to the Pro Bowl, but good enough to be an All-Pro LT.

Chris Simms on McCarthy's offense

“I think he [McCarthy] is too regular. It’s just basic West Coast offense. I can promise you guys like Bill Belichick, Mike Zimmer, those guys? They’ve been around it for so long and they had to face Bill Walsh. They know that offense just as good as Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers. They know the rules. Other West Coast guys who’ve been successful, let’s say Sean Payton or Kyle Shanahan or Sean McVay, it’s West Coast-based, but they’ve added their own footprint to it to go, ‘I do this along with it, to make it not the West Coast. But I have my own wrinkles.’ And Green Bay is as basic as it gets. It is what we could call in the NFL Day 1, Day 2 installation, your basic plays you put in the first day the rookies are in. Aaron Rodgers, who, you know, I think is the greatest quarterback of all time … We see him dance around and sit there in the pocket … He’s not doing that because he wants to look cool. He’s doing that because nobody’s open a lot of the time. I also think that he’s been scarred by people not being open so much of the time. Troy Aikman, early in the year, made comments … ‘There’s nobody open.’ I remember my dad [former CBS game analyst Phil Simms] doing it two years ago: ‘There’s no separation.’ “
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.
