This isnt anything different than normal correct? The only thing that is different is the amount of the qualifying offer, instead of it being 7 and change, its 4 and change. Also just to throw this out there, KP in his 4 seasons has made 18 million dollars. Pretty hard to turn down 1.5 times what youve made in your career in just 1 year. Also wasnt KP's biggest issue with Phil Jackson?

You could say this about any young guy entering his final year of his rookie contract. No one ever turns down the big money, dont see any reason why KP would.

A restricted-free-agent-to-be has the option of taking the qualifying offer to become an unrestricted-free-agent the following year....that’s some hard hitting breaking news there.

Yes, his documented issues were with Jackson and Hornacek, both now departed.

What's more significant is that in addition to dialing back on pushing for an early return, his camp also agreed to forego extension talks until after the season, which allows the team to enter FA with his ~$17 million cap hold instead of the ~$27 million had he signed an early extension.

All the signals point to a tentative trust between the two parties with the new regime.

There was a baseless NY Daily News article that came out yesterday speculating retaining porzingis isn't a given. It basically referenced a bunch of old drama from the phil jackson era. No mention of any real inside sources, either but that's fairly common for the NY tabloids.

The tweet in the OP was just clarifying how much money he'd be giving up if he didn't sign the extension. And it makes sense coming off a major injury that he wouldn't want to risk passing that up. Nothing to see here really.

Just trade him to the Suns and be done with it already.

Porzingis for the Suns 2019 1st round pick unprotected + the Bucks 2019 pick.

They will offer him a max contract, not just a QO.

How long have you been a TOR fan?

If it was before Masai got there, then I trust your opinion on what a terrible organization looks like.
