If you rebuild you want Oubre, or at least want him for pick(s). You stay away from Ariza.

I just see it as largely a posturing move from Grunfeld. Oubre is probably going to cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $15M+ next year. Meanwhile, Ariza is going to be an UFA free agent next year and Washington can probably offer him a 3/32 with a player option in the third season... so he’s a lot cheaper long term than Oubre. It’s clearly a re-tooling move as they plan to move away from Porter Jr. and Beal.

Look at who they went out and got... Ariza and Dekker. Both guys who can play the 3/4 and replace Porter once Grunfeld trades him...

I don’t know how it can be so clear. I don’t know anyone else who would see it that way. I don’t understand or see this take at all.

If anything, it's a clear sign of two things:

1) They were not - at least at the time of the trade - trying to turn whatever assets they had into future oriented pieces

2) They were trying to turn a guy they did not want to pay into somebody they think that can play and would maybe stay for a smaller salary.

Getting out of Oubre's future contract with their current core already on the books was widely discussed as a possible scenario with the money they already have on the books. This is not some move you make if you want to tear it down. Far from it.

Unless we trade Schröder, we need competent shooters coming off the bench. Nader is a scrub, but him draining those two 3s the other night vs the Lakers really helped. On a team level, the average 3P% this season is 35.3 %. As of right now, we have - I **** you not - one guy (!!!) on the whole roster who manages to shoot at least 35.3 % from 3 and that's Paul George. To illustrate this issue further: Among the 199 guys who have attempted at least 70 3s this season (so roughly two per game), we don't have a single guy in the Top 50 in 3P%, one guy in the Top 100 (George), another guy in the Top 150 (Grant) and then it's off to the races:

Abrines 160
Patterson 168
Schröder 169
Ferguson 182
Westbrook 198

We're not going to reach league average with our roster "vision", but this is just not tenable. You're not going to create space for Westbrook this way.

Going through the list, I think the following players might be attainable:

-Bjelica if the Kings keep losing (aka no Playoffs) and prioritize their young players over the rest of the season
-Bullock if the Pistons are out of the Playoff race
-Tolliver (he's not getting minutes anyway)
-Vonleh (if the Knicks don't think they want to spend money on him and try to at least get something for him)
-Hood (I'd say he's gone either way so just try to get a 2nd or so for him)
-Tyler Johnson/Ross if you want to trade Schröder

Immediately. He just can't be combined with any other players. Incoming team has to just take him alone.

If Parsons gets bought out, I’d love to take a shot on him.

He would be good for OKC if he can stay healthy.

Minimum, yes. If he sucks or gets hurt, you're not losing anything but the couple of months you signed him for.

Greetings all. Have been backpacking through the woods and didn't have Internet. How's the board holding together?

Hardenasg went AWOL after some intense discussion. GROD has been feverishly working to get Beal to OKC. Bondom still isn’t talking to any of us but I know he lurks.

This is a fairly accurate assessment.

Whilst I have been working on how to get Beal to OKC, or maybe Hield instead, I’ve noticed less tension and less turmoil on the board. There has certainly been less condescension and more enlightening discussion (at least from my perspective).

All in all, I’m enjoying the board.

Also, would you guys do a straight up Grant for Bjelica swap?

No..Grant is the 4th best player on the team and gets better every year and on a decent contract and it still young.

This is one of those deals where I think both teams hesitate, but at the same time are close to saying yes. I am in the same boat

So Schroder would seemingly fit on the following teams Phoenix
Orlando
Chicago
New York
maybe a 3 team deal where Reggie goes somewhere and Schroder goes to Detroit
New Orleans

Smitty's tapped in pretty good with Orlando and he's been pretty consistent saying Orlando's riding it out with Augustin. NY has gotten some interesting flashes from Mudiay, but I don't know if he's their solution. Who knows what the hell is happening with Chi, but they like Arcidiacono and Dunn at least.

I agree to an extent. I think several of these teams will attempt to pry Rozier away next summer. I’m guessing they’d rather invest in him, as opposed to paying Schroder

Okc Heat Dallas

Dallas gets Dragic Whiteside and Winslow.

Heat get Schroder D.jorden Barnes

Okc gets DSJ J.Johnson..

What else do yall think OKC would have to add to make this trade work or do you even think it can?

I feel like OKC steals a bunch of vaiue here. A healthy Dragic seems like a guy the Mavericks would like, but Whiteside is a lazy sack of potatoes. Also they will have to pay Winslow.

For the heat, I’m don’t know if it really helps them obtain there goal of shedding long term salary....
