A snip from the athletic article by Blake.

If Brown is waived, the Raptors would probably delay an immediate move for tax purposes. Were they set on signing a G League player or other free agent to their NBA roster, they could wait the two-week limit for tax savings. There are a number of veteran hands in the G League who may be of some interest, although nobody who particularly moves the needle at first blush. It’s possible the Raptors wouldn’t go with a point guard, either. Eric Moreland, who was in camp with the team, was just waived by the Phoenix Suns and is available once again if the team thinks it needs frontcourt depth, for example. (This has 905 implications, too, as they acquired his G League rights before the season.)

If the Raptors opted instead to convert Boucher, they would have to move more swiftly so they could sign a new two-way player by the Jan. 15 deadline. This is probably the best-case scenario from a purely Raptors 905 perspective. Boucher would still see occasional time with them, and they could use that other two-way slot to either secure and reward Adel or to add another player to the roster entirely. If the Raptors went that route, they would probably look to sign another guard, both because they would want the backcourt depth with Brown off the roster and because the 905 are very thin at the point.

Canadian point guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes has left Greece, and he and the Raptors have had mutual interest in the past, but the Westchester Knicks own his G League rights. He’d be available to the 905 only on a two-way deal. Kalin Lucas doesn’t have prospect upside but is one of the steadiest point guards in the G League and would offer Brown-like experience as a depth piece. Nick Johnson, who won G League Finals MVP against the 905 last year, has added a 3-ball to his game that makes his solid profile a little more dynamic. Gary Payton II, Kendrick Nunn and Tra-Deon Hollins are other interesting names with limitations in their profile you’d expect for pieces available in the G League. None of these names is particularly sexy, and none is having quite the season Loyd is, although Loyd is still learning to be more of a point guard than a combo guard. The idea would be maintaining NBA depth for a key position while also helping the 905 ahead of another likely playoff run.

Wizards waived Ron Baker today who was the other guard with FVV at Wichita State. But I can't stand his haircut.

Have you seen Ron Baker play?

Unfortunately, yes. Lived to survive it though.

I wish my employer would sign me to a $800 K ($1 Million CDN) contract and then tell me not to come to work again ever - but I still get paid.

Didn't Masai tell Lorenzo just last week that he wouldn't be waived?

Wolves aren't giving up Rose with the season he's having, but Lin is a possibility and would be a very good player who can create his own shot off the bench.

Shot blockers around the league sigh in relief after hearing he's out the league.

Lin makes a lot of sense for our O.
Rose makes little sense for a number of reasons

It's pretty unbelievable Zo managed to last through most of a full season, then through training camp, and half way into the next season on 60 win pace teams before getting cut. Is he someone's nephew in the front office?

No way D-Rose is getting bought out.
The way he's playing, he's easily worth one 1st round pick and probably something more from a team.

Why would you ask me that, you idiot? Why would you put me in this position? You’re asking for a lie.

“Of course I won’t waive you!”

He wasn't that bad, I don't know why people are ripping on him. Obviously when you play behind Lowry, Van Vleet and Delon Wright you won't see much playing time. I hope Lorenzo finds a team in the near future, I think Lorenzo can develop his skills with more playing time and be a guy who can give a team 10 pts, 4 asts & 1 stl off the bench. I guess the Raptors have an opening spot, it would be nice if Vince Carter came back to Toronto, gives the team some added veteran experience, VC can still ball even at 40. I think it's only fitting Vince should retire as a Raptor.
