That had to be a fairly big motivation for the team.

How about the year we went with the PG backup rotation of Will Solomon and Roko Ukic (2008?)

Yes he was, and finally... Took them long enough.

I don't think they hated Brown or did this as a cost-cutting move only. I think they will look at veteran to help at PG. Honestly, Lowry has said he is managing this issue and it will be ongoing.

“My back didn’t respond the right way. We had to be smarter about the next move,” Lowry explained of the wait since then.

“It’s going to be something that’s not going to go completely away, but we have to stay on it to make sure it’s as minimal as possible,” he said.

My feeling is that they will get a guy to play third PG that will run the team a bit better. I feel like Delon Wright is slipping in the rotation, or at least is not providing the enough on offense for them. I'd love it if they got someone like Jeremy Lin or even JJ Barea to help manage Lowry's minute load.

I don't know about that. The team obviously saves ~$800k in guaranteed salary in terms of the bottom line; however, the tax is determined based on team salary on the day of their last regular season game. Any actual tax savings assumes we don't sign anyone or make any moves that increase salary for the rest of the regular season.

The crazy thing about Lorenzo Brown is that he would have been our starting PG during some of our dark years.

Especially if Wright is dealt with OG for something.

I wish Goran Dragic was healthy, that would be an intriguing fit for our window.

Is Dragic expiring? Why would the Heat buy him out with another full year left on his deal? Or are you suggesting we'd trade for Dragic?

I feel bad for the guy. Scrubenzo was a good towel boy, and OG's best friend on the team.

I know this saves some money but I think this move could also prevent a trade from happening because we don't have a lot of small contracts to help matching salaries. I think this means that Jeremy Lin is off the table now because even Miles, Wright, Richardson is not enough to cover Lins salary.

People have the audacity to debate the best fan base in the league when we have a 6 page thread on Lorenzo Brown getting waived.

Nah

He was literally that bad despite some people ITT saying otherwise. He'd still be 2nd/3rd string PG on some of those teams and that's actually nuts.

Maybe they are clearing the way for Loyd. Not a trad. PG, but maybe he has improved with the 905.

Well we've seen Masai sign a player before to trade a player then waive them right after

His on-ball defense was not bad at all, I could see a non-playoff team being interested in him as a backup PG for his defense, but man he was brutal to watch offensively.

Anyone we sign now will have trade restrictions. Since we are over the luxury tax by so much we basically have to take back a smaller amount and Miles/ Richardson are less than 10 mill combined as salary filler. I think its going to be buyouts or nothing for us.

You're right. Even in 2004-2005, we had Rafer Alston starting. However, Lorenzo would be the full time backup. I have him ahead of Palacio on the depth chart.

Honestly, I hated him. I wanted Boucher or Deng Adel to get his spot after camp. But over the last couple weeks he has been competent. I would have cut Malachi. That dude is so G League it hurts.
