Not true.

Not until another major move is made and even then, adding Parsons is too little too late for this season.

Stuck in the middle is the worst place to be.

Focus on acquiring a game changing PG, developing the young talent we have and / or tanking for the draft.

Parsons does not help any of those scenarios and even hurts two of them.

Adding Parson isn't going to hurt anything but add depth to a horrible bench. Parson wouldn't affect any PG acquisition, so your premise doesn't make sense at all.

I offered 3 areas we need to focus on and the FACT that Parsons hurts our efforts in 2 of them. If I am not mistaken 2 < 3. I had hoped you could conclude for yourself which one I left off the list.

Apologies. I will not overestimate your comprehensions skills again.

I still see absolutely no reason signing a minimum salary vet that can shoot the 3 really well can hurt any one of your 3 ideas.

Just signing him? No, I suppose not. If your goal is only to let him be another Mozgov that is ...

But you suggesting giving him as much as 15 mpg. That is playing time better used for young player with a chance of being in Orlando post 2019.

If he plays really good, then Parsons can resign to play post 2019.

Who’s minutes are you concerned about? Isaac/Bamba/AG are the only players that meet the “young player that needs minutes to develop” criteria—Bamba is a C and Parsons could slide between the 2 and 3 off the bench—possibly even play 4 in a small shooting lineup.

So I see:

Grant/Ross/Isaac/Parsons/Bamba as a way better lineup than any alternative we currently have.

Does Parsons come with his own wheelchair or do we need to provide one?

Perhaps. But is our goal to be “less bad” this season? Because that still isn’t good.

Parsons is a perennial bum who complains about minutes. No thanks.

Parsons didn't play serious basketball since Friday 18th ,2016.

It was 3 years ago. MInus some game here and there, he didn't play for 3 years.
If you get him ( for cheap ) and he somehow overplays some of Magic younger players than lol, just sell team to Seattle

A lot of calls for 'direction' from people, but that's an incredibly vague term. I'm curious what people would consider a realistic move that gives us direction. Throw out some examples.

Trade Vuc and Evan for youth (picks if possible) and tank away. Unfortunately, we've already won too many games so we'll probably end up in the 6-8 range.

We never learn and keep on trying to 'win' with Vuc and Evan... then it's too late to tank properly once we 'figure out' that we can't win with them leading a team.

“Playoff” direction:

Sign/acquire a backup point guard
or Sign someone who can dribble a basketball for the bench unit

“Rebuild” direction:

Trade Ross or Vucevic

Very straight forward

Is tanking really a direction though? Other than trending down? Especially with the new lottery odds making it harder to game the system like Philly (who, consequently, also took 4 years of tanking to acquire their two foundational pieces).

Doesn’t a direction require something steering it, as in a quantifiable asset, rather than a hope?

Improving that backup PG spot is integral to any kind of playoff run.

But trading Ross won’t make much impact on rebuilding, short of a few extra losses (and if we get a good piece in return it might be a null effect). Vucevic should land us the best return and improve our ability to lose more games if we trade him. But that’s not really a direction, unless the piece we get in return has real promise. Improved lottery odds as a direction is comparable to driving into thick fog but knowing the place you’re trying to get is somewhere on the other side. But then, so are obstacles that could run you off the road.
