Now we see what the focus of the Leonsis family has been, trying to rush an interactive betting broadcast platform for the Wizards.
Realize it is the future of the league, but having an owner attempt to license his own product to the league as a whole feels like a conflict of interest.
The only goal of building such a platform is small licensing play per team (tiny annual minimum guarantee, 4 year license), and a minuscule percentage per bet.
It’s a good business model, that being said it’s a bit of a conflict of interest for it to be owned by the Leonsis family (or any owner) in my view.
Silver wants a 3rd party platforms approved by the home office, and overseen by multiple tiers of attorneys/accountants which the league office decides, not owners.
Individual teams building their own systems is a legal nightmare for the league office. This very much reads to me like Leonsis is angry he can’t have full control over betting revenue when the Wizards are involved. This is going to get ugly.

You should also put this on the main board. Probably would be a big thread

LOL I went to Turd's twitter page to see what bull he posted about it, and the butthurt billionaire blocked me. What a thin-skinned crybaby that man is. No better than the Redskins owner.

Until Ernie says "no mas". Then we'll see an Ernie approved successor take over the role.

I'm expecting a Leonsis-engineered platform for betting on Ernie's longevity!

Seems just like Ted to be on the forefront on how to milk your customers for more money.

From the article Indy referenced:
It's obvious that Zach is already scheming on how his family can take advantage of the conflicts of interest his father is trying to create.
"It's the 1.0 version of where we're ultimately going," Zach Leonsis, senior vice president of strategic initiatives at Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which owns the Wizards, told SportsBusiness Daily. "This will get more advanced. ... The challenge for operators will be to make sure that the game play is supportive and not interruptive of the broadcast itself."

Maybe Zach can get into the gambling addiction treatment business. That would be a triple bottom line!
