From what I read some people do not think Motley can defend NBA centers well but I figure he will fit in perfect then so give him a shot and lets see in a game that is not close.
I think Gortat playing better lately is affecting the equation. Gortat admitted that at age 35, he was beat up with that brutal travel schedule and is feeling pretty good now after a few weeks of sleeping in his own bed.
That probably does play a role but look at the stat lines we give up to some centers. Motley probably is not the answer but should we just take a peak?
I don't understand it either but I'm guessing he was brought up to play some what-the-hell minutes if we're being butchered by the opps' bigs, but Gortat's surprising play has made it unnecessary to risk it. He's even had more minutes than Trezz the last 2 games.
One thing this year has really shown us with Bobi is that even a 4-minute stint can be a disaster, a quick minus-10. With Gortat and Trezz each playing ~24 minutes, there's no need to hit the back of the bench.
But I think Motley will still get some burn soon enough, either by injury or Gortat's play falling off again.
