Tony is bad man. What does he do besides score?

scoring is a premium on this team lol. and if the bench is playing well, its typically a direct result of tony running the offense driving it. no one other than tp and kemba actually shift or collapse the defense with penetration allowing our offense to move. he's also the only guy who consistently attacks quickly when kemba gets attacked high.

numbers are inconsistent because he's 50 years old but when its comes to actually driving the xs and os on this team he's been invaluable. of course an old guy in the middle of a 6 game road trip against some of the best perimeter defenders in the league is gonna have a rough night.

this is a hilarious overreaction

So what's the long term plan here? We ride Tony until he can't drive anymore? His defense is atrocious. And, we have a team of young talent that needs developing, and I don't see Tony as the developing type.

If you think Tony is bad you should take a look at the other backup PGs around the league.

He’s the best backup PG we’ve had since Lin.

This season Tony is a better backup PG than Terry Rozier, Quin Cook, and Dennis Shroder among others.

He’s even playing better than some starting PGs like Rubio, Rondo, and DSJ.

if your eventual third pg is a finals mvp and by all accounts an excellent tutor/coach for all the guys on the team then you can look at problems at literally every other position.

and ffs no one can guard lou williams

its hard to take you guys seriously when it comes to some stuff. you talk about monk being nice when his defense is factually worse while he's even streakier than parker. lamb can't guard anyone or take real pressure off kemba while in a contract year and people act like he's gonna be around forever even though we have to pay kemba (or tank, and if that's the case there's even less reason to pay him to stay).

There’s no long term plan for Tony. He was brought in to be a short-term holdover as a veteran presence while we push for the playoffs this season and groom Devonte Graham in his shadow.

The playoff ship has sailed. We've got nothing but a team of bad contracts. Anybody in their right mind would be tanking right now.

The playoff ship hasn’t sailed yet. We’re 8th in the East with Detroit struggling just as much and a whole game behind us.

You think Detroit, Orlando, and a Wall-less Washington are going to leapfrog us that easily? That’s without mentioning that Brooklyn can fall off any day now if one of their injury prone players between Russell or Dinwiddie get hurt.

I don’t expect us to make the playoffs how we’re looking now but that’s mostly me trying to laugh the pain away more than being logical.

We are 4-6 our last 10 games.

Detroit and Orlando are both 3-7 their last 10 games.

Just look at our 2nd half schedule. We'll have to add a guy like Kevin Love just to finish in 7th or 8th place. Not worth it.

It’s worth it if they intend to keep Kemba. I honestly think they should trade Kemba because I don’t see him returning unless we make it past the 1st round of the playoffs.

As far as the schedule remaining in fact Brooklyn has a tougher remaining schedule than us. Detroit and Orlando are likely to piss theirs away as much and lose when we do.

I can see Orlando going into tank mode to secure another lottery pick. Detroit might make a trade since they have assets in Drummond, Griffin, Reggie Jackson, and even Reggie Bullock.

We have the 7th toughest SOS remaining while Detroit and Orlando are 26th and 23rd. Not to mention, those teams should get better since they actually have pieces that should gel together more than whatever we are trying to do.

I can see Detroit getting it together but I don’t see Orlando. Even with that said you can’t big up DET/ORL easier schedules and then dismiss Brooklyn’s tougher schedule.

Just know that we make a living off of making the playoffs when other teams decide to tank. This season we’re in a privileged position to do so with Wall deciding to opt for season-ending surgery.

I’m right with you though with the pessimism because we are trash but I also have to be logical.

That pic really doesn't do him justice, he looks borderline terrifying walking around the sidelines. Nightmare fuel for LA children.

You’re looking at a guy that’s coasting and unmotivated. If the game was closer he’d likely find some competitive fire to try but it’s been out of hand pretty much all of the 4th quarter after Willy happened in the 3rd quarter.
