What FA point guard you would target this offseason?

Sure, that's partly the reason why I wrote on the first page I could be OK with anyone from this list. I could "settle" for the leftover one on a short contract (Lin?) easy, if we get Morant, and one of Melton or Okobo makes good progress until next year (which is totally possible). Otherwise Rubio would be my choice of these FAs, and we'd have to pay him pretty.

Morant won't make us much better next year as rookies typically take a bit of time, and he comes from a small school and may not mesh well with Book.

I'd prefer a vet. Maybe we could go with Morant as backup and Okobo as 3rd string. I imagine Melton opts out after next year.

Then you are in the trade the pick camp I suppose, becouse there is not really one good PF of PG in the top 5 besides Morant and Zion (who we are not getting most likely). But then we should go after a bigger name - a top 5 pick plus other assets (any of TJ / JJ / Bridges /Melton/Okobo/Mil pick/our 2nd rounder) should get you somebody from about all star to a rock solid starter, depending on what you attach to that pick.

What about Keldon Johnson? I admit that I don't watch much college ball, but on paper he looks like a can't-miss prospect.

There is a decent pick we drop to 7 or 8. It's pretty rare you trade draft picks unless it is during the draft and it's to move up or down. Sometimes it happens for a current player but still, I think you use the pick and hit free agency....there are way more PGs available than teams that need PGs.

The answer to the poll question is still Brogdon and Russell to me by a wide margin. Yeah we’ll have to overpay, but we should be willing to pay for a quality PG that we can build around for several years. We won’t do anything better with that capspace... Spend whatever is left over on a position we didn’t answer in the draft - probably PF unless we get Zion.

I really really like Beal, but I would not trade Booker for him.

I like Beal a lot. I think he's a more complete player than Booker, especially when you consider his defense. Yes Booker is younger, bigger and is already very productive but I just don't see his D ever getting to Beal's level which is far from elite. To me, Booker and Beal are pretty close in value but I think Beal would be a better complementary player (ie 2nd option) than Booker in most scenarios. But Booker has potential to be a legitimately great 1st option imo, something that I don't think Beal has in him. So, I'd only ever put Booker on the trade block if the rest of the team starts to get better (or we add legit talent) where Booker no longer needs to carry the team on his own but he continues to have a selfish Mamba mentality.

My guess is, if you took say, 17 fans, and they had to choose, 13 would say Cory Joseph and 4 would say Collison.

I'd lean Joseph due to defense and age...they both shoot fairly well (both over 38% from 3) and both take care of the ball well..Collison 4/1 ast/to, Joseph over 3/1 ast/to ratio. Collison a little better offensively and was a GREAT 3 pt shooter last year, so he could be the better shooter going forward.

100% Joseph. Never a fan of a player who has to be taken off the court for stretches because of his size (Collison).

Neither are sexy names but Joseph would be a great vet leader who makes smart decisions and always ends up on winning teams. Literally every team he's been on (Spurs, Raps, Pacers) has won at least 48 games.

Thanks Bgood, I was trying to figure which player James Jones might have his eye on in free agency.....Also what tiers he might classify them in do to their skill set.

I always wondered if front offices go into free agency with a possible tier list or big board of prioritized free agents that helps them decide in what order to pursue players.
