The Spurs will take a long, hard look. If they figure he's not a knucklehead, he won't fall past the TOR pick.

Who was the last top 5 or top 10 pick who wasn't a regular starter in the college?

JJJ was a starter but he also barely cracked 20 mins, and IIRC he didnt start a couple games in the tourney unless I'm mistaken.

JJJ started, but couldn't stay out of foul trouble and Izzo kept him on a real short leash. It was very odd. JJJ would play, get a quick foul and then Izzo would put him on the bench for the rest of the half.
Very different situation from Nassir. JJJ looked great when he played, just couldn't get out of Izzo's odd doghouse for foul trouble. Nassir can't get on the court because he doesn't know how to play basketball.

I'm not sure I see the relevance of discussing JJJ in this thread? It's like comparing apples to oranges?

pinson and jackson both from karolina. all the recent draft picks have been major busts relative to expectations from the place and so is this guy. overrated player that is only becoming worse because of his college choice. he goes late 1st round or wenever jordan picks as hes a sucker for crappy karolina players.

Re: Nassir Little
I can't decide if playing behind Cameron Johnson is a good thing or a bad thing.
Good: Cam Johnson is a old mature player, so it is expected for a freshman to play behind him.
Bad: Cam Johnson is some 5th year scrub with no NBA prospects dominating underclass college kids. Maybe a top 5 ranked freshman should play ahead of this kind of player

I mean his walking turnover on offense but you would expect at least good D from him , but maybe his even worse at that end.

never go to NC
Vince carter is probably their last good player. And they get top rated talent too...they just can't develop NBA players.

Can't tell if his inconsistent minutes and inconsistent play is effecting his defense. I feel like his defense should be the thing that he can fall back on, but he really hasn't been good on that end.

That's strong. Doesnt know how to play or a system that doesnt really support the idea of one and done candidacy. And that's fine. I'm not judging the school and Nassir knew what it was when he arrived. I'm just saying WE should be able to filter that out. None of these guys KNOW HOW TO PLAY basketball. It's just that other coaches have more tolerance for flawed play.

A coach's job is to win games and yes, develop players but to the extent of hey, you learned how to win on a winning team. Nothing more. There was one a time when that's what the NBA was all about. But there can be two rights and as I said above we can still be understanding of these dynamics when judging Little.
It's no different than understanding that a player will have great stats on a bad team but sacrifice on a good team.

well, NC just got their asses handed to them with Little playing limited mins again...so maybe he should actually try playing him more.

False Roy Williams is just bad at it. I really hope Cole Anthony doesn’t play for him because he might force Cole to stay 4 years.
I think if they get a new coach and wait a couple years for the cheating scandal stink to wear off, they can be a force in recruiting again.

that's the popular narrative but not at all true. He's been more than fine on defense, at least the half dozen games I've watched. Roy likes to throw that b.s. out there to the announcers before games to justify why he's sitting a top five talent and they buy it and spread it to the masses who apparently believe it. But if you watch the games the starters are horrid on defense, way worse than Little. Bottom line, Little chose poorly. If he doesn't have a strong tournament, no pre-draft workout, no matter how impressive he is, can make up for that poor decision. But if he does have a great tournament, or if someone gets hurt and opens up more minutes for him, he can still go top 5. I've been saying it all year, his game is suited for the NBA. He's potentially a better OG Anunoby. OG is also coincidently blocked in TOR but looks like the kind of guy who'd flourish with a starter's role and fill a stat sheet. I see a similar track for Little as he'll need 2-3 seasons to erase the stink of Roy's benching and be given a starter's role in the NBA.

The amount of people making excuses for this bum is unbelievable. He's not bad because Roy isn't playing him, he's not playing him cause he's bad. Really bad as in doesn't even understand how to play the game on a basic level.
Sounds like a lot of people posted that this guy was some great player and future top 3-5 pick before the season started and have now dug in despite the obvious results and are now making all sorts of excuses for the guy.
Face it, he sucks and there's no way he's getting drafted in the lottery, let alone top 5. He's a bum and his best move would be to transfer to a mid major where he can play and maybe learn the game.

again, how do u know?
he's averaging 20/9 per 40, on 5 BPM, 54 TS% and 18 PER.
nothing spectacular, but there are many worse players statistically getting more burn than he is...and it's not like North Carolina is winning playing him limited minutes...they just got wrecked by unranked Louisville.
also...Little just isn't the type of player to make an impact in small minutes. he's not a microwave scorer and he's not gonna run offense for u...he needs minutes to ramp up, get him in transition or let him slash to the basket in half-court sets.
