Re: Kyrie Irving and Marcus Morris have ruined Celtics Pride
If there is any issue with Kyrie its his inconsistent, bipolar and probably arrogant leadership. Seems like after every big loss the sky is falling and after every win the world is perfect. Just hard to operate in an environment like that especially in the NBA.

Re: Kyrie Irving and Marcus Morris have ruined Celtics Pride
Real issue with Boston is not Kyrie or Morris.
The real issues are :
1. Gordon Hayward is making 30+ millions for the next two season after this one. You likely have to give up asset to get rid of him at this point. People like to say PG took time to recover from his gruesome injury, but he was an All-Star and the best player on his team the year after his injury. AT the moment, Gordon Hayward is the 7th best player on a championship team at best.
2. The trading assets that you had are melting away. It looks like all the picks that you are owed will convey this year, hence will not be available for a Davis trade AND the draft looks weak outside of the top 5. Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier who looked like blue chipper coming out of the playoffs last year, are just losing value every passing games and it does not look like the trend is about to change.
3. Tatum hasn't made the step that people were expecting from him. He is still a very talented young player but his 3pts shooting is down to 37% from an unsustainable 43.4% last year. Going into the season he was touted as a can't miss future MVP candidate, as of now, I believe expectation have cooled off a lot on him.

Re: Kyrie Irving and Marcus Morris have ruined Celtics Pride
People expected Tatum to make the leap too soon tbh. Hayward just getting back in the groove. Al Horford's kryptonite is Tristan Thompson and Whiteside.
Jaylen Brown has stunk this season. Rozier stinks this season and is trying to chase a bag.
Kyrie and Morris have been the two best players, they aren't the issue lol.

Sounds like you're Celtic-centric but okdynasty2018 wrote:Don't hate. The Celtics are the all-time greatest basketball team. The 60's weren't that long ago and still count.
They will never dominate the league again like that, so there's no reason to debate C's as GOAT team. The Yankees ruined my childhood. I grok why people might not want to hear about Boston Celtic history. I feel your pain and wish your teams good luck. (I actually don't care, but the point of this thread is not whether or not Boston or Lakers are the all-time best or Chicago Bulls for so-called modern age, etc.)
The C's have always been about unselfishness and making teammates better. Red Auerbach believed that stats were for losers.
Morris and Irving are good and very good respectively. Morris is a tweener between serviceable starter and scoring specialist. The same is true for Kyrie but the way the league is set up, he is spun as a top pg and player in the NBA.
Kyrie is not a leader. He is not good enough to be a traditional pg. He makes too many stupid turnovers. He doesn't have the vision or strength or something to put up a lot of assists with few turnovers. He is mediocre at best on defense.
I was watching Kyrie last night on defense. He stood around a lot of the time. It was basically four on five from the eye test. It looked like he was trying to help out Horford and other bigs and waiting for an opportunity to pad some rebound stats.
Jaylen Brown got frustrated and messed up taking too much time recovering to get back on defense. Morris is the Kyrie of power forwards serviceable at best for defense. He is a great scorer. But Carmelo Anthony was a great scorer who never won anything.
I will give up on Boston and the NBA if Danny messes this one up. Morris should not be shoving anyone in public like he did to Jaylen. A lot of fans don't seem to understand basketball. They think Kyrie is transcendent. If only the rest of the team could play up to his standards. That is the claim made by morons and kids aged twelve.
Kyrie wants to be the selfless leader but that's not his game. It takes away from his scoring which is pretty much all he is. Someone grabbing a couple steals doesn't make them a good defender. In short, the team has become too dependent on divas Morris and Irving and lost its defensive identity. The chemistry from last year is in tatters.
I think Danny should shake things up with a major trade. Unfortunately, the two cancers are the ones with the expiring contracts.

I will just say that I don’t generally agree with the premise of this thread but I LOL when I hear people talk about Brown and Rozier chasing stats for contracts...um. What do you think that Morris is doing? He never even tries to move the ball and he has the ultimate green light. Give that same freedom to Rozier and Brown and guarantee them those minutes and the results might be tidier for them. I’ve never liked Morris.

Brown only got 5 shots last night lol and was a -5.
Horford-26
Hayward-20
Irving-11
Tatum-11
It was the starters who gave up the big run last night.

I agreeHarcore Fenton Mun wrote:The problem with Irving is you need a bunch of knock down shooters around him since he is ball dominant. You currently have a bunch of guys who need to touch the ball, handle it to be good.
The team isn't built around Irving's strengths...that's on your GM. It's not a very well constructed team, it's just a group of assets.

I'd add that other than his artificial leader act it's also his unwillingness to play defense and his general selfishness that lead to inconsistency from his teams.

These two have been crazy efficient this year and are responsible for the Celtics success thus far. Comparing them to Melo is absurd since they're clearly not just high volume, low efficiency scorers.

Danny Ainge and the C’s are on thin ice with you? Imagine being a Pistons fan for a moment. The Celtics will be fine - short term and long term

Re: Kyrie Irving and Marcus Morris have ruined Celtics Pride
I don't know what OP's problem is but from skimming the comments from fans of other teams it's pretty clear they don't watch the Celtics very often and are only here to promote their previously held theories of what they THOUGHT would go wrong for the Celtics, or what they hoped would go wrong. Very little of it applies to the actual team.

Kyrie has been a +defender this year.
He leads the team in charges taken and has a 0.7 DRPM, the first time in his career.
Hes improved on defense. But this is what happens when a star (disliked one at that) is on a good team, he gets pickef apart.
His teammates have good things to say. Hes taking 18 shots a game..moves the ball, doesnt hog or chuck. And has been a plus defender.
The whole selfish, chucker, defensive liability thing is simply not true no matter how many uninformed takes try to say otherwise. He isnt the reason for the team's struggles.
He isnt even in top ,15 in usage, or FGA

Re: Kyrie Irving and Marcus Morris have ruined Celtics Pride
I solve the Celtics is this offseason. As this year is a wash and your looking at a 1st exit.
A) fire that awful coach
B) max out Kyrie
C) over spend to keep all your free agents. Team needs time to grow together.
D) this is a super deep draft class, keep all your picks
E) change that awful looking stupid logo

I just want the Celtics to finish strong enough to draw the Nets in a 3-6 matchup in the first round.
