I agree with 316 that the price is too high, but I also understand why WSH thinks this is an exception to other recent star trades. To be honest I don't even see why they need to unload Beal asap, he's young enough to contribute even after a rebuild and if he boosts his stats on a bad team next year it might further improve the market for him.

If WSH wants him gone in 2018-2019 to supercharge rebuild they'll have to accept less. If they want an offer more like what they're asking now they'll have to wait and either hope someone (like Knicks/Nets/Clippers/Lakers) strikes out elsewhere and become desperate, or that Beal explodes as center-piece on a scrub squad and his value rises.

They can want a package like that but it’s completely irrational given what other perennial All-Star/“Superstars” have gone for recently. Good luck Washington.

Out of all those stars who've been traded, how many of them were 25 years old or younger and signed to long-term deal?

His highest BPM of his career is 2.2 and that was 2 years ago. You really need to have over a 4 BPM to be considered a star. For comparison, Cody Zeller has a 2.2 BPM this year.

Oh so its just BPM that determines whether you're good or not.

Who was better last year, Kyle Anderson or Kemba Walker?

Well, that's the thing about BPM. It takes in the defense and offense of the player. While Kemba was much better offensively, his defense was not better than an average player. Kemba looked better because people focus on offense. But, Kyle Anderson's defense provided just as much of a positive addition as Kemba's offense did. Bradley Beal is also a player that is great offensively but lacking on the defensive end. Hence, he get's recognition and accolades but may not translate to a lot more wins for a team.

Ok. So last year you would have traded Walker for Anderson if you're going by BPM. Would have made perfect sense, given your criteria, since Anderson was a whole lot cheaper and just as effective as Kemba.

It wouldn't have been a crazy trade imo, but you have to look at team needs and fit as well. Charlotte already lacks scorers so trading away Kemba for Anderson would not be wise.

All I'm saying is that Beal is not a star that commands such a huge asking. He has a great offensive game, but defense is going to offset some of his scoring. If he was so great, Washington wouldn't be losing so many games.

And, just to clarify, I find it hard to justify giving Kemba a max contract as well.
