Jarrett Culver
He deserves a thread of his own (couldn't find one). Big fan, as you can see from the video. Improved a good amount over the summer and still a long ways to go. From the frame to the game, I see shades of LeVert.

I think he's a better prospect than Smith last year.

Hows his defense been this season/project to be?

Solid defender. Low STL% is worrisome this year, but was higher last year. Only real issue I see with him on defense is his strength (not sure what his wingspan is).

I definitely thought about the LeVert comp before but not nearly as shifty.

Physically not like LeVert or Butler. Maybe closer to Butler at the same age, but doesn’t have nearly the explosion as Butler. Butler also developed his handle, explosion, defense and jumper. Similar vertical and reaction ability. I don’t think he’s going to be anything like Butler and it would be really unlikely for Culver to become as good.

Culver somewhere between Shai and Butler. He's gonna be a good one.
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

He looks like a stud from the numbers. I'm bummed that Zhaire Smith isn't playing this year because one small concern I had last year was that Texas Tech's coach might be so good that his players have a decisive scheme/preparation advantage that won't exist in the NBA (similarly to how we've seen John Beilein-coached players have a spotty track record in the NBA).

He's flying under the radar for sure.

He's really not at this point tbh. That Duke game for sure woke people up to him. At any rate kind of now thinking he's a Luol Deng type, which is a great archetype.

Re: Jarrett Culver
I'm not a fan of the guy. He reminds me of Terrance Ross when he was in Washington. I like drafting elite shooters or elite defensive wing players and he is neither. He seems to be a good college player that does a little bit of everything well, but on the same level of shooting as Klay or same level of defense as Jimmy Butler, just in that in between level where not much happen.
The only positive thing I can say about the guy is that his PG skills seems to slightly above average, but I'm not sure if I would put him in the Brandon Roy category yet. This is one guy that I would really want to see his combine number first before thinking about drafting.

He is a significantly better player than Ross was on both sides of the ball. If you want a comp, think of LeVert (or LeVert with SGA's pace).

I saw in another thread that you said you were wrong about Huerter. Honestly at this point you shouldn't trust your own instincts, because they appear to be off. Terrence Ross and Culver are very different players. I think the problem with evaluation you're having is not understanding how important playmaking from the wing is in differentiating player potential. And beyond that simply that Culver is a vastly better defender than Ross.

LeVert was an elite shooter in college, Culver is not.

this is really weird criticism considering the overall package Culver brings as a CG.
i don't have him as a top 5 guy like some here, but he's a legitimate lotto talent.

LeVert was an elite shooter in college, Culver is not.
Culver: 80th percentile jumpers, 88th around basket, 90th C&S, 73rd off dribble, 88th on jumpers less than 17 feet, 78th from 17 to 3, 17th on 3s.
LeVert: 81st percentile on jumpers, 58th around basket, 97th on C&S, 22nd off dribble, 11th on jumpers less than 17 feet, N/A (2/9) from 17 feet to 3, 94th on 3s (26/59).
They're shooting profiles are pretty similar, actually. On top of that, his game resembles LeVert WAY more than Ross. Ross was an athletic streaky shooter. That's it.

Funny you said that because it was Huerter who actually made me change my opinion about drafting elite shooters. He is the reason why I now say you have to draft elite shooters
And Ross actually averaged more steals Culver. Both are about the same level defensive player, only above average on the college level, not like Kawhi or Butler when they were in college.

Culver is shooting 37% from three. LeVert shot above 40% from three, 3 years in a row in Michigan, and shot 45% from three his final year in Michigan. I'm not sure if you know this, but 45% from three for a whole season in college is a big deal.
