Luka not going to get my vote as an All Star starter. I mean clearly that's Pg13, Bron, Davis, Jokic, Durant are way ahead of him but I would put him in with LMA off the bench. He is just that damn good.

:nonono: Come on now. He is NOT CLOSE to the HOF. We had guys who were superstars like Grant Hill and Penny who aren't and they were much better at their peaks than Luka right now. Chill. Don't go full stan.

I agree. Anthony Davis has also played awful because his team is near the bottom. Individual play means nothing.

Yeah, there's about 18 guys better than Davis, Lebron isn't a top 10 player and Oladipo is the 5th or 6th best player in the league. Thanks Jazztop for your great analysis.

How disingenuous of a distortion but I expect nothing less.

I stand by my point that great players and individual accolades have a lot to do with win totals.

We didn't distort anything, we just followed your logic.

Of course there's a correlation. It doesn't mean it's a direct comparaison like what you did by saying that Doncic's team record isn't as good as Tatum's, Mitchell's, Simmons', therefore he can't be better than any of them. That's just bad logic and we just pointed it out.

The only race remaining is "how good will Doncic be if he stays healthy and motivated?"

I've said previously I think he will be a Hall Of Famer if he has a long career and good health. But there doesn't really seem to be any ceiling currently, except maybe "wont be GOAT, I don't think."

He's sick.

The key for me has always been his jumpshot.

If he can improve and become an elite jumpshooter, or a well above-average jumpshooter, Luka has the potential to be an MVP level player. I hope he has the drive to work on all aspects of his game like a LeBron and that he stays focused, because this level of talent and feel for the game is not something we see very often. It will be interesting to see if the Mavs can hit on their draft picks and surround him with real players. Dirk and now Luka. You bet I'm jealous, Dallas fans.

I barely have time to watch or comment on the league right now in my life, but I make time for this guy.

He's a freak. Just hope the basketball deities give him good health.

That's the thing. Silver wants to make the game more popular and exciting to watch, which means more fans, more viewers etc etc... And if you check how crazy popular Doncic already is, i bet he wishes that he would play in an all star game. Just for the sake of a better viewership.

It's not the NBA Hall of Fame. Grant Hill's case for the HOF itself was greatly helped by his college career.

Luka just happens to be a record breaking Euro for both club and country. Now I'm not saying he's already better than some perennial All-stars who didn't and won't make the HOF, but Luka's case for the HOF will already be a lot stronger after he becomes ROY and All-star. That's just how the HOF works.

i think you’re missing my point. I’m not the one proclaiming him the future GOAT and all time GOAT rookie. If you want to be making these claims, your team should at least be .500. That’s one thing among several that separates last season’s top 3 rookies - who were all leaders / co-leaders of 2nd or C/F round playoff teams.

Like I said - it’s not racist to elevate him because of his ethnicity and nationality. But it is nevertheless an influencing factor in people’s assessment of him, whether they realise it or not.

I mean, that's cool and all... but could he have done this against THE Ohio State in the sweet 16?

Actually every year you have one player included into HOF as international legend (last year Dino Radja). So just with his Real and Slovenia achievements he will be included in HOF.

I honestly think he can be an All-Star. One of my favorite rookies this year, he had a huge game against us as well. He needs to play even more minutes-wise.

Im trying to remember the last perimeter player to look as good as Luka as a rookie. Tyreke is the last guy to match him when it comes to stats, but I dont remember the constant clutch plays and having the ultimate IT factor Luka has. The dude is special.

Eurobasket gold, all-Eurobasket team, Euroleague title, Euroleague MVP, at age 19, this is beyond belief. Too bad Slovenia didn't qualify for world cup, but Dallas still has shot at play-offs, so that would be interesting.

It is literally a continuation of your logic. If your argument for those other players being close to Luka rests on win totals than why wouldn’t the apply to Davis?

The answer is context. And in the context you used it it’s worthless. BOS, PHI and Utah clearly had 4 superior players surrounding their rookie when compared to the Mavs.
