My point is that Kemba isn't a Max contract player. Fair value is about 24 mil/year. Lillard looked much better than Kemba and doesn't need a screen setting big to get him going.

I knew we was in trouble when we kept losing to crap teams and when we had to go on our west coast trips that will really put us behind something I don't think we can come back from cause we can't never win consistent its always maybe win 2-3 games and gets everyone hopes up again and lose to crap team by 20.

There's a lot of posts on Twitter this morning talking about our defensive deficiencies. Spencer, Bonnell, Brian geisenger, Ritchie Randall, all those guys have some good stats about how bad are defensive been lately in the season. Hornets are tied for last in the league in defensive rating after made field goals. Clifford would have never let that happen. He always had his team get back on defense. We are near the bottom in every defensive category over the past 15 or so games, and much worse since Zellers left. We're among the league bottom in teams giving up three-point attempts and attempts at The Rim , the two shots most teams try to prevent. We don't have the talent to stifle players on the perimeter and we don't have the rim protectors in the paint to discourage people from getting to the rim.

Anyway, I think it's long past the time for Kidd-Gilchrist to be inserted back into the starting lineup either in place of Nic or Biz. There's no way CJ McCollum goes ape **** like that last night if you throw Kidd-Gilchrist on him to start the game. Maybe going small with Marvin at Center and Kidd-Gilchrist at the four isn't the worst idea in the world. At least we probably have our five best players on the floor. I'd have Kidd-Gilchrist playing 30 minutes a night on this team right now. He seems to be the only one who consistently brings energy and effort and toughness and the ability to defend anyone one-on-one.

I think that Borrego knows Batum sucks and is only giving him the role he has to try to maintain the illusion that he is a capable NBA starter, so that they can hopefully facilitate a trade. The problem is that no one is buying it and his laziness is killing the teams overall motivation.

Its obvious Kemba, MKG, and Lamb, have pretty much tuned out. They did this last year when it became obvious the team was going nowhere, so I'm not surprised. Its obvious this team is going nowhere as currently constructed. Batum isn't the only problem, but he is the biggest problem and his laziness sticks out like a sore thumb and I think its a major factor in why seemingly the entire team has stopped giving a ****.

Trading Batum, or cutting him from the rotation, won't magically solve all this teams problems, but I think it is probably the most important step to start the process of fixing whats wrong with this team.

There’s a lot of blame to go around on this team but the constants are Batum and Marv in the starting lineup and Willy off the bench. Cody has been pretty bad from the eye test but that’s mostly because he can’t finish in traffic and usually get bullied around for rebounds but the effort is there.

Consistently average to below average. PF has been our weakest starting position for the past 5 seasons or more sans this year with Batum.

No way. Marv is 2nd on the team and 15th at his position in RPM this season (+1.86). 10/6 and 39% from 3pt on 5 attempts with positive defensive impact is absolutely not hurting the team. He is a limited role player, but he is quite effective in his role. Marv has easily been one of the biggest positive contributors this year.

Batum is the biggest issue overall by far and really the only major issue with the starting lineup. The rest of the starting lineup is still pretty meh overall, but no one specifically stands out other than Batum. Parker and WHG are the biggest issues on the bench and are the two worst overall players in the regular rotation.

I've been thinking this very recently as well. Its not ideal for MKG, or in general, but Batum just can't be counted on for anything other than laziness and disappointment. I think you can't keep giving him a starting role on principle alone.

This is what I'd try while Cody is out. It has a lot of issues, but its worth trying imo.

Whole team played like trash. Portland always seems to light us up for some reason but there was not a single positive defender in the Hornets roster last night. Even MKG looked like Adam Morrison on defense.

First time I went to see the Hornets in years, it was a profoundly depressing game to go to. I left being reminded why I don't like being exposed to the Hornets in person. Just a listless and sad core that is begging for a trade to shake things up, clearly the coaching change is doing little to nothing.
