Dunn and Parker? IMO Dallas wins that trade in talent but at least we avoid the headache of Dunn’s RFA status.

If we miss his defense that much, we can also just sign Rubio or Rozier.

I like it- get ‘er done Pax!

I don’t see a good fit for Dallas with Dunn. Dunn need the ball in his hands to be decent. He’s not as effective being a 2 guard without a reliable outside jump shot. Mavs got Luka to be the primary ball handler.

Not a great trade, but trying to make things fit based on some of the rumors we've heard:

Bulls Trade:
Robin Lopez
Jabari Parker

Bulls Receive:
2nd Round Pick from NOP
Zach Randolph (who we buy out)
Kosta Koufos (Could keep or buy out)
Solomon Hill

Pelicans Trade:
Solomon Hill
Wesley Johnson
2nd Round Draft Pick (To CHICAGO)

Pelicans Receive:
Robin Lopez
Mario Hezonja

Knicks Trade:
Enes Kanter
Mario Hezonja

Knicks Receive:
Jabari Parker
Wesley Johnson

Kings Trade:
Zach Randolph
Kost Koufos

Kings Receive:
Enes Kanter

Solomon Hill is making $13MM guaranteed next year and isn't really looking like an NBA player anymore. So a 2nd pick isn't really good value to compensate for whatever Lopez and Parker are worth + the negative value of Hill's contract

I don't think I've seen enough PG skill out of (the admittedly little) I've watched DSJ to want to lose Dunn in that deal. The appeal to me of a Portis/DSJ deal is that adding DSJ, increases our odds of having one of the two of them step forward and become a great starter...plus getting some value for Portis, who I would prefer replacing with a near-vet min back-up talent.

Source just told me a deal for DSJ is in the works. Dunn/Jabari for DSJ/Matthews. Take it as you will

I would look at DSJ as a future trade chip, unless he pans out is an exceptional point for us. But buying two years before RFA status is a big deal, rather than matching Dunn to some kind of $15m+ salary on a lottery team.

I'd be happy with that deal, though I get a feeling that the Mavs could do better than that.

I like Dunn, I really do, however, I just don't see him being our future starting point guard, and just the thought of what he would be looking for on his extension is something I don't even want to think about.

DSJ will come with his own problems, but at least he is on a rookie deal, and we can evaluate him accordingly during that time and not have to worry about an extension.
Why so serious?

Trade one:
Parker, Portis, and Felicio to the hornets for Biyombo, Marv Williams and 1st

Trade two:
Dunn and Lopez to the pistons for Jackson and 1st

Draft Zion, Tre Jones, and Kevin Porter

2019/2020
Tre Jones/Blakeney
Lavine/Porter
Zion/Valentine/Hutchison
Lauri/Williams
Carter jr./Biyombo

Going into 2020 that sets us up to sign Anthony Davis assuming he makes it to free Agency. We’d also probably have a high draft pick that could be used as trade for a second star. Carter and 2020 lotto pick for Lillard.

Dame/Tre Jones
Lavine/Porter
Zion/Hutchison
Lauri/FA
Davis/FA

If The Bulls trade Portis I'd like them to look at Noah Vonleh and Kyle O'Quinn as possible FA signings (I'm not saying sign both...just one...but talk to them to see how much they're asking for).

Sign me up for a DSJ - Dunn swap... as much as it pains me.

DSJ is a nice buy low asset.

Hes being undervalued right now because of Doncic-mania.

DSJ is better offensively. Lavine and Dunn aren't exactly a great pairing. Wouldn't be surprised to see it happen.

I like that deal in that Matthews is a guy who we can see what he has left in the tank and could be a decent back-up at a low cost after this season.

Dunn is a good fit for Dallas...gives them a good on-ball defender and secondary play maker.

I guess all the folks who wanted DSJ over Lauri would get their wish to have him here.

Could open door to offseason signing of Rozier or Rose.

That DSJ trade would be nice. I'd like it more if they then tradced RoLo and Blakeney for some good bench player and vet.

Chicago:
DSJ
Brandon Knight
PJ Tucker
2019 1st (HOU)

Dallas:
Kris Dunn
Jabari Parker

Houston:
Wes Matthews
Bobby Portis
2 2nd Round Picks

WSJ / Arc
LaVine / Knight
Hutchison / Tucker
Markkanen / Felicio
Carter / Lopez

Bulls tank for Zion, avoid paying Portis and Dunn, and have 2 1st Round Picks in 2019. Tuckers contract is only Guaranteed 2 mil in '20-'21.

At first this seemed far-fetched but after some thought it sort of makes sense.

Dallas just lost Barea so they're looking for a backup PG and I could definitely see Carlisle salivating over Dunn's defensive potential, particularly playing alongside Doncic. It leaves a pretty glaring hole at SG for Dallas but I suppose they're opting to play big anyway with Doncic at point. Furthermore, both Barea and Harris will be free agents after this year. A backcourt of Doncic, Dunn, Brunson & Barnes isn't all that bad especially in Carlisle's system. I assume they plan on throwing the bank at Klay Thompson this summer or possibly going after Redick? Jabari would be a consolation prize and scoring punch off the bench.

It seems there must be off-court issues with DSJ because he doesn't strike me as that bad of a fit with Doncic. Although Carlisle and him apparently don't jive, which could end up being a disaster with him and Boylen.

If your unsubstantiated rumor is true, Dallas could've been asking for this year's 1st from both Phoenix and Orlando but neither team was willing to play ball. As crappy as the Bulls have been, we do have decent young assets on 2+ year deals that Dallas could have interest in.
