It seems like we are constantly trying to build a team that fits around Kemba, so with all the trade rumors around him. I thought it would be a fun exercise to talk about what kind of team you would want to watch or what type of players. Assuming this team was completely void of any players so no need to build around any current guys.
Not looking for specific players, or necessarily superstar this or superstar that. More style of player or player architects. So more like defensive focused? Fast paced? Heavy three? Traditional bigs? Shoot first or pass first pg?
What type of key players would you need to have in order to make that system work.
Maybe we all kinda have an ideal style of play and we should work to formulating a roster around that.

Re: Style of play and roster construction
Copy the Nuggets with some pass heavy bigs who can run the floor. With all the smallball teams, those guys are able to take advantage in a variety of ways. After that, have a guy like MKG who can anchor the defense and a 3 and D guy. PG should be a good shooter who can play off the ball.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

Re: Style of play and roster construction
I'd build a team to shoot a ton of threes and relentlessly pick and roll. Ideally two dependable playmakers could be on the floor at all times while all five players would be able to shoot at at least league average from long range.
On defense I'd prefer if everyone could guard at least two positions, ideally 3-4, and then switch everything no matter what.
That seems to be the style of play the league office is more or less cultivating (you might also call it imposing) year by year through rule changes/points of emphasis. At the same time strategy is also headed in a similar direction because the race is on to see what the upper limit for 3pt shooting can be both in terms of volume and team shooting%. The upcoming generation of players will naturally hone their games in this direction. Not every team will play "the same" but heavy emphasis on the three and switchable defenders will become shared philosophies.

Re: Style of play and roster construction
In the latest NBA Power Rankings they were ragging on how bad we’ve played over the past month with Marv at C in our small ball lineup.

Style of play and roster construction
Okay my turn:
PG- Pass first, solid defender, and average 3 point shooter. Head of the snake on my team who can make every other player better.
Examples: Rubio, Lonzo
SG- Defense first, Good shooter. Doesn’t have to be a great scorer. Your perfect mold of 3D player.
Examples: Danny Green, Avery Bradley
SF- Swiss Army knife star player. Someone who can score, defend, shoot, handle the ball, and win games.
Examples: Paul George, Tatum, etc.
PF- scoring option number 2, can shoot the three but is more than a spot up shooter. Would opt for more of a small ball 4 who can take bigger players off dribble some and switch some on defense.
Examples: Tobias Harris, Julius Randle, Kuzma
Center- Rim runner and rim protector. Someone who can block shots, run and dunk in crowded spaces.
Examples: Capela, McGee, Or Jarrett Allen
6th man- Combo guard who can score bucket buckets. Be able to carry bench units and help close out games.
Examples: Lou Williams, Malik Monk, Dinwiddie
Team would look something like this-
Lonzo
Danny Green- Dinwiddie
Paul George
Julius Randle
Jarrett Allen
