Just to correct myself - Lofton and Evans are no longer with Grand Rapids. Their contract was with the Pistons not the G-League.

summer league never matters and never will matter. we've seen too many examples of that.

He did not do well in Summer League. 10.8 points on .388/.321/.364. I was surprised that he got a two-way deal in the first place.

Ugh. The ONLY value of these contracts is to sign a young high upside/ high bust potential guy and see if he can step up in your system. There really is no reason to sign a 29 yr old this way. If you think he can play for your team, pick him up on a 10-day. If he's not worth that, then there is no reason to stash him as some future potential asset.

We have a full roster though so would have to cut Ellenson (no big loss) BUT after two 10-day contracts we'd have to sign the player or not and I think it would put us over the tax to sign them to vet minimum ROS deal still.

Realistically I agree with the idea of never signing a 29 year old to a 2 way contract. But he seems to be able to get a lot of these deals. Also its more just a "look at" type situation, so I can't really see the problem. Completely unrelated I think its crazy that Boston just gave RJ Hunter a two way deal considering he was one of their 1st round picks in 2015, then cut a year later. "hey...uh....welcome back RJ?"

But the 2 way players can't really play much or you have to offer them a real contract anyway. The ONLY thing these contracts are good for is stashing a guy to see if he develops.

Each can get about 20 games, we have 40 games left so it's a situation where we could use both to be 3rd point guard the ROS. We mostly agree on your second point - however Whitehead is better prospect than Evans or Lofton. Lucas is a total waste and we should have had a 4/5 for emergency depth here - I mean if not Johnny Hamilton, find somebody else. I mean look at us now - Dre busts his nose and likely misses a game or two - so we roll Zaza and what? Ellenson is crud and still out injured, and Griff shouldn't be playing center if we can help it - so we have Zaza and Leuer?

We don't have a small-ball system on off&def that's even a shadow of what the Warriors run with, so Blake on C is definitely not ideal. And the more he plays the 5 for extended minutes, the more his risk of injury increases from constantly banging bodies with bigger & heavier centers. So I guess for the next few games we'll be seeing a lot more of Zaza but hopefully not so much of Leuer.
