Denver Nuggets Gathering Places

Post#1 » by NuggetsWY » Sat Jan 19, 2019 9:42 pm

I'm planning to visit Denver for the Jazz game on the 23rd. Do any of our regular posters from the Denver area have a location they like to gather? Perhaps a few of us can gather some place.

That’s really cool, how far from Denver do you live? I, myself, live in New Jersey so I don’t really have a chance to watch Nuggets games live. Although, I am going with my friend to the 76ers Nuggets game on February 8 when they retire Moses Malone‘s jersey. It will be my second nuggets game ever live, and the last time we took the 76ers by surprise after Nerlens Noel got s tech and came back to win it. I’m hoping for some better action this time since my tickets got me 5th row for 32$ last time

I'm only about 100 miles from the Pepsi Center, maybe a little more. I live just a bit north-east of Cheyenne, WY.

It has been around since the forties and has the best green chili on the planet. Fans of every Denver team have been known to lunch there.

If you are looking for somewhere to go after dark, you have to ask one of the younger posters.

The Brewery Bar has some of the best Mexican food in Denver, although there are many great places. Sports bars abound but there is nothing like the Brewery.

Well, I like green chili a whole lot more than red. The game on the 23rd starts at 8:30 - will you be there?

I know it's off topic, but this one would be good for this question :D
How much money would it need for lets say one week in Denver? With somewhere to sleep, sightseeing and stuff like that?
Wanted to start saving money for a trip in a year or two, only tickets are around 1500-2000$ for 2 passengers xD

Well, I've traveled a lot but am no expert. It all depends on how nice you want your life. My wife and I tend to travel a little bit on the cheaper side but we do enjoy the nice things in life too.

Decent hotels can start at $100 per night and run as high as you want to go. My wife & I have a favorite that we use every couple of months to visit a big museum. It's around $100 and includes a nice hot breakfast.

A good meal for 2 can run around $25 per meal and again, can go as high as you want to go. Car rental will cost at least $50 per day and perhaps more, depending on the car (shop around on this for sure).

Sightseeing can be expensive or cheap. In Colorado the greatest sightseeing is traveling through the mountains in my opinion and that's pretty much just a fuel expense but there are activities such as off-road ATV rental or skiing that can really add up.

$50 per day for meals
$50 per day for car rental
$100 per day for hotel
plus sightseeing & I'd plan on $1500-$2000 for one week --- at a minimum; although it would be possible to keep that much lower, I just don't think it would be as enjoyable.

That's what I also thought, atleast... Thanks :D (And that was without counting car hire, thought hotel would be much more expensive)...

Hotels can be a lot more, depending on what you want. When the time comes, ask any of the local guys (just in case this old man ain't around - don't worry, I probably will be, the doctors say  ).

Will have that in mind, thanks :D

And when it comes to sight seeing, of course I'm more than interested to go to red rocks where team is training every now and then, you have to pay somethin to get there besides fuel? XD

I know Red Rocks as a concert venue. I know the Nuggets work out at "Red Rocks" but I'm not sure what's up there. Maybe someone else knows.

As much as the Nuggets fanbase has grown in the last year, I still haven't found a bar that consistently fills up with like-minded fans. In fact, more often than not I still find myself having to ask multiple times just to get their games up on a tv.

If you have a car, I consider Red Rocks a must-see and always find time to get up there when I have friends visiting from out of town. If you can't make it to a concert, the park and venue is generally free and open to the public when there isn't an event happening. There's a few easy and worthwhile "hikes" in the area too.

All right, I'm going to visit the Blake Street Tavern tonight. Skywalker's going to be there too. I'm planning to arrive around 7:30 giving me time to find a decent table for viewing (I suspect most will qualify). Everyone welcome to join us.

If you want to message me, I'll respond with my phone number. If you want to surprise me, I'm a 60+ year old fat old biker with long hair and long beard.

Would love to see as many folk as possible and hoping to do this about once a month.

Skywalker & I enjoyed ourselves but we shared a largish room with two Jazz fans (bummer). They were alright though.

GREAT night out, those who couldn't come out missed out ! We're probably going to do this again, hope to see more Nuggets fans/RealGMer's join us if possible.

Only thing to make it better would've been a win and more camaraderie !!

It's always fun to meet and hangout with co-fans and forum members. We do the same especially after watching a game of our local hoops team. Cool stuff. :)

Different place next time - suggestions always welcome and they don't have to be in the Denver area. If we do another one that late, I'm staying in a motel. I didn't get home until after 1:30 AM and I'm just too old to do that very often.
