NBA Re-Draft 2018

Post#1 » by canadiansporter » Tue Jan 22, 2019 2:26 pm

From what we've seen so far this season how would you re-draft the top 5 players of the 2018 NBA Draft -- disregarding what the teams need at the time, just purely off skill and potential ?!

My picks would be:

1. Luka Doncic
2. Deandre Ayton
3. Collin Sexton
4. Marvin Bagley III
5. Trae Young

Even if I wasn't a Kings fan, there is no way I'd pick Sexton over Bagley. Sexton has looked good so far, but he's basically been given the greenlight already. Bagley is on sort of a leash with Joerger and has been dealing with injury issues while still putting up near 20/10 per 36 on a good team.

Sexton at 3, really?!

Doncic
JJJ
Ayton

Then there seems to be a pretty big dropoff.

Bagley
WCJ

Trae's raw numbers are inflated by Atlanta's league high pace and his efficiency is poor. Couple that with his D and it's hard to put him top 5.

I think everyone has to have Luka at #1.

1) Luka
2) Ayton
3) JJJ
4) Bagley
5) Wendell
6) Young
7) Bamba

How the hell do you not have JJJ Top 5 at the least? And Sexton has one of the worst RPMs in the whole league, not just rookies, and gets no assists as the PG

Luka
JJJ
Ayton
WCJ
Bamba
Bagley
Trae
Miles Bridges
Kurucs
SGA

Maybe Kurucks deserves to be higher but this would likely be my top-10. Knox, Hurter, Shamet probably all in the top-15 as well.

Unfortunately Sexton is not a good distributor. I can't see why he would be on any of these lists. A guy like Melton has shown more as a contributor to team success compared to a guy like him.

Luka
Ayton
JJJ
Bagley
Wendell
Knox
Young

Luka obv at 1

Very close between JJJ and Ayton for 2 spot, I'll give edge to Ayton bc I think he has a better chance of being able to take over games, very impressed watching him.

After that not too impressed with anyone, Bagley looks okay, I like Wendell but I don't think his ceiling is too high, Knox is good has good potential same with Young. Everyone else doesn't look that amazing.

I have seen enough from SGA to have him top 6. Bringing the midrange back. He'll provide scoring, passing and defense as a lead guard.

Trae Young, "the 2nd coming of Curry", shoots identical from the field and far worse from 3. Other than a couple more dimes, they're having identical seasons. Hard to judge where a rookie will be in 5 years when they have a high usg% on a low-tier team.

I just personally see more in Sexton thus far. But that's just my judgement. We'll see who's right in 3-5 years time.

Porter Jr was projected to go top 3 easily before getting injured, don't think it's delusional IF he comes back to his old self

Not many people watch NY I believe. I'd have him top 10, but not much higher than that
