Re: Tommy and Lee targeted by teams (Athletic)
I still think it's going to be very difficult to trade either of those guys without attaching an asset, but if we have to attach something, I'd do a second rounder (or even two seconds) in a heartbeat. You go into a FA meeting with someone like KD armed with KP, the young players, a newly selected lotto pick, and even more money to spare, and you're in business. Just think it's going to be near impossible to move those two guys.

Re: Tommy and Lee targeted by teams (Athletic)
It's an article on where each player stands before the trade deadline. It does not sound like anything is close or new regarding Timmy or Lee....suggests teams have been asking for an asset to take on Timmy or Lee
Tim Hardaway Jr. and Courtney Lee
Two different types of cases here, but both represent a means to the same end. The Knicks are short of the cap space needed to sign a free agent with 10-plus years of experience (read: Durant) this summer. Lee will make about $12.7 million next season, the last on a four-year deal. Hardaway will get $18.1 million in the third year of a four-year, $71 million deal that has a player option for 2020-21. The Knicks already waived and stretched Joakim Noah, putting dead money on their cap through 2021-22. Waiving and stretching Lee would only add to it. He’s fallen out of the rotation, getting the occasional minutes for Fizdale but clearly not a part of what the team is trying to do right now. He remains a respected veteran and has drawn compliments for his professionalism.
Hardaway Jr. has been inefficient this season while holding down a large burden on the offense. Despite his struggles, the Knicks need him to prop up their already below-average offense. Moving either Lee or Hardaway Jr. would get the Knicks the cap room they need, though trading Hardaway Jr. (who also has a 15 percent trade kicker) now could also make them uncompetitive way too often. Teams have asked the Knicks about Hardaway Jr. and Lee, according to league sources, but the Knicks have been adamant about not attaching assets to move them. Maybe a playoff team in need of scoring or wings will accede at some point and offer the Knicks a worthwhile return, or maybe the pressure of the trade deadline can make things move along.

So essentially nothing has changed.
Pills won't attach assets bc they're delusional and no deal, in other news water is wet

I don't know what teams consider to be "assets," but I'd gladly trade some combination of Trier/Kornet/Dotson/Hezonja/Mudiay/Vonleh and 2nd round picks in 2021/2022 to get out of Tim's contract. None of our lottery kids, Money Mitch or future 1st rounders though (and obviously KP.)

You'd need at least a 1st to dump Tim imo, unless you're taking back like Parsons or some other worse contract, which kinda defeats the purposeCookies4Life wrote:I don't know what teams consider to be "assets," but I'd gladly trade some combination of Trier/Kornet/Dotson/Hezonja/Mudiay/Vonleh and 2nd round picks in 2021/2022 to get out of Tim's contract. Remember that Tim has a trade kicker, which he could waive but probably won't, so he's a 20 mil contract, and is an average offensive player with terrible defense
Lee won't cost a first to dump, but something like Vonleh and a 2nd might be about right depending on what team he's being traded to

Trade Kicker is paid by the team that makes the trade. Knicks would be paying the kicker. it only counts on the receiving teams cap

So...another clickbait article? The Knicks have stated they want flexibilty...that's all. They can make minor moves to get a max slot. They also stated that they aren't all in on spending it on one player.

Rockets could take on tim hardaway and they don't care about giving away first round picks.

You'd figure a guy averaging 20 ppg at 26 years old wouldn't require a 1st rounder to help dump him off the team but Tim is who he is. I actually rate him as a below average offensive player because that shot selection is just awful. Like JR Smith awful. I'm pretty sure he's averaging under 40% from the field with his only saving grace is him being an average 3 point shooter and good from the Ft line.
Anyway, the only type of 1st rounder I'd agree to would be a right to swap in 2021 or 2022 and a couple second rounders. To be fair, and I don't really like much of the roster on here, but if there was a redraft from last year it's plausible to assume that Trier would've been a late 1st rounder. I think he has a little value around the league. Something like Tim, Trier, Dotson, 2 second rounders, right to swap 1st rounder in 2021 or 2022 and some cash for an expiring.
I hope that lee deal would come to fruition. Dumping either of those guys would let the fanbase know that something is brewing this offseason in FA.

The cap hit is the important part, and that's transferred to the receiving team

I could see the lakers trading for tim hardaway , lee, or burke. I also could see the jazz trading for hardaway they need shooting badly.

The team to deal with would be Sacramento. I think they're making a push for the playoffs and they have a few expirings on that team- Shumpert and Z-Bo. I'd love to dump Tim and Kanter to them for those 2 guys, give them some of the young expiring guys and a few second rounders.

Rockets, Jazz or Lakers. Wouldn't surprise me to see one of those teams take him without an asset or with only a small asset. I could see the Knicks wanting to hold onto him to see how this summer turns out.

This seems like a possible destination too. But what "young guys and a few" picks? I'd be careful there. I think if you're dealing Timmy, you should keep Dotson for sure. I also like Luke as a quality big.

plus boston has their pick so we really would like them to make the playoffs to F over boston's pick

I was thinking any combination of Vonleh/Trier/Mario and Dotson as well. I'd like to keep Damyean out of all those guys mentioned but I don't think he should be a deal breaker if it means we can dump Tim's contract.
The few picks are 2 second rounders at the most. I just think their owner is on par with a prime version of James Dolan circa 2010 so I think if there's any team dumb enough to pickup Tim without attaching a 1st rounder it would be Vivek and company.
