Beal would probably by himself be the best asset on the table for an expiring AD with a short list of teams he would resign for.

The spurs raptor trade is a great example of what teams are looking for now in a trade for a superstar....another all star, a young piece or two, and a pick or two. And teams are willing to part with that for said superstar even if they aren't on the "short list"

Let's say B.I, Zu, KCP and a future first is the price for Beal.

Beal by himself is way more valuable in a potential AD trade than those pieces combined, especially considering how B.I would be entering RFA next year.

I still think since we're in the same conference as NO we will have to out bid Boston or Philly by a significant margin to land Davis. I think we overvalue our youngsters by quite a bit as well. To get Davis we'd be left with Bron and Bonga basically.

Not necessarily imo. I think we have historically overvalued our youngster by quite a bit, certainly, and I agree that if our offer is the same as the Celtic/Philly offer, they would prefer to trade him there. The thing is though, is how AD/Klutch approach it.

If those teams are less certain about resigning him, their offer will realistically reflect that. No way in hell the Sixers offer Embiid or Simmons for AD if they aren't certain they can keep him. So what can they offer that would realistically top Beal? Butler IF they even resign him? Seems like a messy situation.

And regarding Boston...the same thing. Kyrie would be off limits and Horford/Hayward won't be of much interest to the Pels. Rozier will not be on a rookie contract anymore and would lose a lot of appeal as a prospect. So at that point you're talking about some combination of some combo of Tatum/Brown/Picks, along with a player like Smart/Rozier/Morris to match contracts.

Boston can ALWAYS overbid us when it comes to AD. We would never be able to outbid Boston if they put EVERYTHING on the table. But assuming Klutch/AD help us out (and if they don't...the whole thing is moot anyways), we simply would have to outbid Boston in terms of what they are willing to give up to take a risk on AD, rather than their absolute best offer. And of course, we would need to bid all the other teams willing to take a chance on him. Beal is a good start in order to do that.

The angle most seem to forget is Davis's preference. He's been on teams with good to very good players and depth. To come here we'd lose anyone other than Bron that's truly a support player caliber. Trading for him leaves us with a ton of filling in to get to a championship level team. We'd probably have to toss in a pick or 2 as well. Does he want to start completely over with Bron and basically no one else?
