Jazz Interested In Otto Porter

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jan 23, 2019 5:38 pm

The Utah Jazz have been a team interested in trading for Otto Porter.

The Washington Wizards could be more aggressive in shopping Porter if they fall out of playoff contention.

Porter has a player option in the 2020 offseason.

The Wizards, however, have made it abundantly clear they will not trade Bradley Beal.

As they should be... but they dont have any assets assuming Gobert, Ingles, and Mitchell are off limits.

The past 7 games since coming back from his leg injury, Otto is playing 30 MPG and averaging a per36 of 22 & 7.5 on a TS of 60%

Yah but why should the wizards get rid of him then? Jazz don't exactly have enticing offers. I'd rather they Dump Wall then get a meh return for Porter.

Derrick Favors + someone else/protected first would be pretty close to fair value for Porter imo.

Because the Wizards are going nowhere for as long as they have John Wall and his untradeable contract....so rather than pay a ton of guaranteed money to Porter, as well....why not dump his salary and tank for a year or two and see if you might have a good prospect or two + other assets to build around Beal later? :dontknow:

This would be a good plan moving forward but you're giving the Wizards FO too much in the way of foresight. Just last week their bonehead owner said they would never tank...

All things considered, this would be a great add for the Jazz. Porter is exactly the type of player they would love to add - a better version of when they were hoping for from Crowder, but with better defense. The dark horse of the playoffs with that nasty defense.

Favors is redundant with Bryant. So his value diminishes there. Getting rid of Porter means adding another starting level stretch 4. I know scott brooks likes start jeff green but thats also one of his many asinine coaching moves so it means nothing to me. The move the wiz need to do is dump wall's tire fire ass. Everything else comes after. Its no surprise the team has done better once the low bbiq on the team stopped playing: Oubre, keef, rivers and wall.

Porter is by no means untouchable, but unless they shut down Beal, it makes little sense to move him for redundant players who don't really change anything.

I'd rather trade wall for rubio, but I doubt Jazz fans would bite at that.(well maybe, not like any "stars" are going to come to Utah voluntarily)
