Good Win Tonight Without Gallo

Post#22 » by Ranma » Thu Jan 24, 2019 2:51 am

Great to hear Ralph and Fratello together again on the telecast tonight. Even better to get a win with contributions coming from everyone.

Motley very productive 9 mins. He will probably get 2 mins from Gortat, Harris, and maybe Bradley if Doc plays bigger to get guys on the floor. 15 mins would be a good sweet spot for him when everyone is healthy.

Fratello on Spoelstra

Post#25 » by Ranma » Thu Jan 24, 2019 3:46 am

I'm watching the rebroadcast of the opening minutes I've missed and it was interesting to hear Fratello state that he fell in love with Erik Spoelstra when he saw him teaching a young Dwayne Wade how to dribble the ball. He goes on to say that Miami knew what they had in him since they witnessed first-hand the amount of work he put into preparation. This is exactly why he's highly respected and valued in and around NBA circles. Spo is the type of coach I've been wanting for the Clippers for quite some time now.

Good win tonight, Doc. Keep up the good work without the front office having to prod you to do the right things and maybe I'll stop giving you a hard time.

Individual Highlights

Tobias Harris

Montrezl Harrell

I wish some of the guys would have played this well against Dallas, but it's a nice bounceback game given the travel and late arrival. I'd rather the team be fully healthy, but it's great to see Rome getting some non-garbage time minutes and actually contributing. He has some areas that he'll need to improve in as he matures as a player, but that jumper is day one legit.

I admit to initially not being a fan of drafting either Shai or Rome at their respective selections slots in the late lottery, but I quickly got over it shortly thereafter, especially when word came out that the Clips tried to trade down to select Rome later.

In any event, the one thing I will give Doc props for with respect to his handling of the rookies is that he's been calling for both of them to be more assertive in shooting and finding their offense during their time out on the floor. Doc's handling of their respective minutes, on the other hand, leave a lot to be desired.

In Rome's case, he seemed a bit tentative even before his injury during his limited playing time in the NBA, so it's encouraging to see him more comfortable in looking for and taking his shots. I try to temper my expectations for rookies, but Rome's shooting stroke is one of the most reliable I've seen from a prospect in a long time.

Like you said, he still needs work in other areas of his game but that shot of his is the real deal.

Huge win! Team needs to win these games. I want playoffs!
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

I think we win the game in Dallas if Doc kept the bench in who got us a five point lead late in the forth. We lost the game soon as the starters came back in. But its all good, hopefully Doc will roll with the hot hands when the situation arises next time. We all wondered what Motley and Jerome added to the rotation would bring and now we're finally getting to see this. I'm pleased so far. We might have another serge in us.
