I don't think it's automatic connor starches cowboy. That fight checks alot of boxes for both guys and one of them for cerrone is that he could win. He wouldn't be favoured by any means, but a hardened grizzled warrior in the biggest fight and chance of his career... I like that fight alot for both guys. Cerrone deserves it, chance to win. Connor needs a w and should win. I bet he will be relatively respectful of cerrone as well which will gain him some respect and love from the people. And of course connor benefits anytime he shows up to fight anyone as well. Good fight, set it up.

And if Cowboy beats Conor I wouldn't be shocked if he gets a title shot after that. Assuming Tony gets the next shot, I can see Cowboy jumping Poirier and Al. Cowboy is just too popular of a fighter.

Khabib is in full delusional mode though, talking about how he's the greatest athlete of all time. He has three fights left in his opinion and they are Tony, GSP and Floyd. He may not take a Cowboy fight, though it's another pretty easy fight for him, and he's pretty much had the easiest road i've ever seen to "greatness".

Plus, I don't think the GSP fight happens anymore. GSP did that mock camp to see if he could make 150 and we haven't heard a peep about anything after that. I'm guessing it didn't go well.
If this fight happens I'd guess it's at a catch weight, maybe 160-165, but Khabib said he only wants it if its at 155, otherwise GSP will be bigger than him, and he doesn't like that challenge.

I don't think GSP is ever fighting again.

I don't think so either. Khabib at 55 for the title is the only fight I think gsp takes at this point and ufc isn't putting that one together.

Conor needs a fight to try and build some positive momentum, Cowboy deserves a big fight for all the nonsense he takes on short notice, and the fans need to watch some good fireworks. Book it.

Honestly, if Conor loses to Cowboy he might as well hang it up. Cowboy, on paper is the perfect match up for him and if he can't win that one, he's probably just not into it anymore.
I suspect Cowboy would use a lot of leg kicks in that one. I don't think Conor likes leg kicks that much, so I don't think it's as one sided as some would suggest. Cowboy is also a lot bigger than Conor. Conor is the same height as Alex, and Cowboy dwarfed him. That's an interesting scrap.

I don't think it's a foregone conclusion at all. Before Conor went to box Floyd, maybe.

Wait, what are we saying? You may as well have engineered an opponent for Conor, like some Bas Rutten contraption. He tools Cowboy up. Cowboy displayed newfound length in boxing and actually appeared relaxed. But he's a wreck, prone to good boxing, and has difficulty going backwards.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Conor hasn't had a great performance since 2016 and I question his motivation to continue fighting.

The one thing that makes me think Conor may be able to stay motivated is that he's a glory hog, and loves the limelight. He's made his money, but he craves the fame and adulation. He has to understand that with every loss his fame dims. If he were to be KO'd or submitted by Cowboy, his credibility as a top fighter is all but gone.

Obviously if the guy shows up who put on one of the best performances in UFC history vs Eddie Alvarez, then old man Cowboy doesn't stand a chance.

But Conor has been away from fighting. Having kids, assaulting people, selling whiskey, seemingly doing everything BUT fighting.

Good point.

I still see Connor winning because he is just that good and given Cowboys age.

We forget it was Khabib that he faced, potentially the best at the weight class ever, so maybe we are being too harsh and putting a lot more stock into his loss.

Connor being the glory hog he is, I see him really ready for this one and doing it handily, could always be wrong.
