We can't trade any 1sts until two years after the Boston pick conveys.

Supposedly Memphis is trying to move Parsons without attaching 1sts or significant assets and *shockingly* there has been no traction for a trade around the league. Crazy right?

Hypothetical question: If Memphis gets #2 in the draft, would Atlanta trade Collins for that pick? I personally think Atlanta would be better off with Collins but maybe they are really high on RJ and would like the two extra years of team control.

He's saying you can decrease the protection on the pick to say protected top 1, so if it falls 2-8, Atlanta gets it.
Lol, at Memphis trying to move Parsons without picks or assets.
We want to add to Collins.

Hell no. We aren't trading anyone in our core (Trae, Kev, Collins) unless you land Zion. No one outside of Zion really that impressive this year.

Taking too many steps backwards. I guess 2 and where Atlanta's picks lands might get you Zion, but Collins has been playing out of his mind recently. Great shooting, great rebounding for his age and minutes played.

Yeah, Collins value is still increasing and he is playing at an all star level of late.

There's definitely a scenario where we'd trade him in the future. But for what he means to this franchise, to Trae's development and where his trajectory is headed...you hold on through his first big contract.

The more relevant question: will it take a max contract to keep Collins? :o
Cause he's up for a rookie contract extension in summer 2020

Again I don't think we can do a 2-8 pick thing because you can't trade back to back picks. We could wait until the draft and then do a handshake deal, but otherwise we can't move that pick since we may have to give Boston our pick next year.

Yeah the Parsons thing has been a debacle since the beginning. We honestly don't even know who is actually running/deciding things currently for the Grizzlies so we have no idea who it is trying to unload Parsons right now.

And like I said I saw Collins>#2 since RJ hasn't impressed me but didn't know if you guys saw something I didn't.

SAC lottery protected 1st (two years and turns into two 2nds)
M. Bamba
C. Parsons
O. Casspi
Y. Ferrell

Orlando Trades:
ORL top 10 protected 1st (two years and turns into two 2nds)
E. Fournier
M. Bamba
D. Augustin

Orlando Receives:

T. Prince
J. Anderson

Sac Trades:
SAC lottery protected 1st (two years and turns into two 2nds)
K. Koufos
Y. Ferrell

Sac Receives:
J. Lin
T. Dorsey

Memphis Trades:
Memphis 2021 1st unprotected
M. Conley
C. Parsons
O. Casspi
J. Noah (Waived)

Memphis Receives:
ORL top 10 protected 1st (two years and turns into two 2nds)

IIRC Sac 1st this year goes to Boston
The rest of the deal boils down to Parsons crap contract for the Memphis 2021 1st.
Our Dallas 2019 pick for Bamba
Prince for Sac pick they don't have (for the record I have no interest in getting any pick that becomes 2nds for Prince). In the tough West, Kings are currently 10th, so Hawks won't get pick.

I think I'd rather hold unto Prince until the draft, just like we did with Teague and got pick #12.

I know, that's why I made it 2021 1st.
No, Prince goes to Orlando with the pick for Bamba.
We get SAC pick for Lin/Dorsey. SAC trades Kostas and Yogi. We get Yogi, Kostas goes to MEM as salary filler.

ATL: Players:
M. Bamba
C. Parsons
O. Casspi
Y. Ferrell
Picks:
SAC lotto protected 1st
Memphis 1st 2021 unprotected

Mem: Players
E. Fournier
D. Dedmon
D. Augustin
K. Koufos
Picks:
ORL top 10 protected 1st (two years and turns into two 2nds)

Orlando Players:
M. Conley
T. Prince
J. Anderson
Picks:
Dallas top 5 protected 1st 2019

SAC Players:
J. Lin
T. Dorsey
picks:
None

Orlando gets a win now package based on resigning Vucevic this off-season:
They can move Ross to SG and move Prince to SF in their lineup.
Replace Augustin with All Star Conley.
Add depth with Anderson
Most importantly, they get a top 10 pick which is valuable in their development long term.
Gets a great haul and will be able to compete in the playoffs without question for the next 5-6 years.
Conley/Ross/Prince/Gordon/Vucci Mane

Atlanta gets a package of the center of the future in Bamba.
Get prime 1st for terrible contract in Parsons.
Gets 1st rounder for Lin.
Also gets Ferrell who will get mins he wasn't getting in SAC.
We lost a lot of talent and assets but gained a center of the future and 1st round picks. One having a great deal of potential.
Trae/Kevin/Baze/Collins/Len with Bamba as the new backup 5.

SAC gets Lin who they need badly to backup Fox which is critical for their system.
Get rid of dead weight in Kostas which trading a heavily protected 1st.
Same starting five with Lin and Dorsey in the rotation.

Memphis gets the best package. 16 million instant savings. Plus 15 million in savings this off-season. 31 million in total. Complete cap flexibility. They keep their top 1-8 and 1-6 picks this year and next. Get a solid player in Evan F. A quality stud at backup in Dedmon and a PG to replace Conley in Augustin. Not to mention a top 10 protected 1st from ORL. A great haul for ORL for Conley.

Augustin/Evan F./Holiday/JJJ/Gasol with a much better bench. Dedmon/Brooks/Anderson

Nothing especially creative here, but just piecing some things together based on what some blog sites for other teams have cited as trades they would be interested to make with the Hawks... importantly, then, this is what non-Hawks writers have proposed, so there's presumably some added objectivity.

LIN TO BLAZERS
Image

BAZEMORE TO PELICANS
Image

DEDMON TO CLIPPERS
Image

So, a fairly attractive haul for the good guys, actually... 2 2019 1sts and 2 future 2nds, and four players who may or may not be kept around.

It would be especially interesting to go into draft night armed with 4 1sts, and potentially able to move up to #1 with some combination, or all of them.

Nobody is trading out of #1. Dont be absurd. 4 Toyota Corollas does not equal one Ferrari.

Don't blame the messenger. I didn't make this stuff up. These are proposals from non-Hawks fans.

But also, don't pretend that all #1s are created equal. I could easily see Portland trading theirs. Less sure that LAC or NOLA would unless they more clearly become buyers in the next several days.

NOP pick is currently #10. With AD out I don't see them trading the pick at the deadline. At the draft, maybe in a last ditch effort to improve the team around AD in his last season.
Prince for #10. :D.

I think what people are saying is that you won't be able to move up to #1, especially if teams think that Zion is a generational talent.

Yup nobody has traded out of the top spot as far as I can remember except for the Tatum/Fultz swap and Stevie Franchise not wanting to go to Canada in 99. Not this year no way. This is a Lebron, Duncan type 1st pick, you get it you keep it.

I missed it if that was the intended message in response.

The main gist of my message was less about that idea of moving up to #1, and rather almost entirely about the best-case scenario in terms of return on the three veteran assets virtually everyone deems most likely to be moved.

But in regard to Zion being a generational talent... or more precisely as you've correctly worded it, "if teams think that Zion is a generational talent"... I shrug my shoulders because I don't pretend to know how that's going to play out. A whole lot of season left, and even right now, though the hype has been building, I don't sense many considering Zion to be the mortal lock for all-NBA first-team that an LBJ was.

Actually, to the contrary, to me it's not unlike how the hype over Andrew Wiggins built up steam a few years ago.

Yikes... really???... sorry, my friend, I can't even begin to talk like that about Zion Williamson.

Let's see how the rest of the season pans out.

Agree. This year feels more like a Wiggins year than a Lebron year.
