I'm a big supporter of Gardner. He'll be in AAA by the end of this season assuming there is room, which there may not be. He spent a decent amount of time in AA last year, so with a hot start he can be up in AAA by midseason. If that is the case, then maybe a September call up in '08 is reasonable.

Christian can be up here whenever since he is 27 years old. He has hit well at pretty much every level and last year stole 68 bases in 129 games in AA, and that was only with a .337 OBP. Imagine if you stretch those numbers out over 162 games and maybe a .350 or .360 OBP...he has absolutely incredible speed. He too can be in AAA this year.

We are really deep with average outfielders in AAA, and they are preventing guys like Gardner and Christian from advancing. But don't worry, both should be in AAA this year and can be in the majors sometime next year or 2009.

Relief ace Kevin Whelan, acquired from the Tigers this offseason in the Randy Johnson trade, was dominant, earning the save by striking out 5 in 2 innings and allowing only 1 hit. He looks like he could make it to the Bronx sooner rather than later.

As I said before the season started, give me Whelan over practically every other minor league reliever we had. He has a great arsenal with that hard fastball, power split, and breaking ball. Once that split develops into an out pitch (its almost there) he can be really good in the majors.

And at this rate, Tabata will have earned his way to AA at the age of 18 and AAA sometime when he is 19. Thats right, we can see him in the Bronx at the age of 20. The Yankees are more patient than anybody else with prospects, thats why guys like Betances and Montero aren't even in full season ball yet. However, sometimes you just can't hold a guy back. It is easier to move hitters along than it is pitchers because pitchers just need work. Hitters simply need to meet the challenge, and Tabata can hit major league pitching right now (which we saw in his .400 average this spring). I can't wait until he is here, he will be amazing.

Didn't we get him for Sheffield who went to the Tigers. Randy went to Arizona. -Jitpal

He finally found the arm slot that allowed him to control his fastball last year, which is why he had a career year. Having that taken care of allowed the Yankees to work on developing his curveball, because he already had a great changeup. He developed his curve pretty quickly over the winter and spring, and that is why he is like a new pitcher. He not only can control his fastball and throw that great changeup, but he actually added a completely new pitch in the curveball and it is a good one.

There is a part of me just wishing that this season was ending tomorrow. Just so that next seen we could see Phil Hughes and others in the majors helping us get number 28 afterall we would win 27 this year. -Jitpal
