Several teams told ESPN that they're already weighing the possibility of making offers for Davis, including contenders who'd be willing to use Davis to chase a championship this season and perhaps recoup assets lost in a trade to New Orleans by flipping Davis at auction after the season -- or keeping him into the final year of his contract.

Sounds like us

1) we are all in this season - "use him for one playoff run"

2) recoup assets by trading him again- "kawhi left"

This is so us! No other team competing for a championship would go all in for this season.

Kawhi and Davis could sign for the Clips together next off season but this the now. The only thing that matters to is Raps fans is this year whatever happens after that will not matter if we go all the way to the NBA finals. We can rebuild after this season but **** I'll mortgage the future if we can somehow go all the way. Masais loyalty is to winning, and we will be in prime position if we can somehow trade for Davis this season. The lineup of Lowry, Green, Kawhi, AD and JV is championship material!

Wrong.

Davis is under contract next season. If Clips get him this season, it will make the the decision to join them MUCH easier.

A bunch of expiring contracts for SGA, Harrell and a FRP that is guaranteed to suck if Davis goes to the Clippers is not the best deal available.

Lakers better be making the call to Adam Silver to finalize that trade.

That's a typical Dell Demps move which gets GMs fired from teams - except the Pelicans. Unfortunately there's no David Stern to slap him silly anymore....

If I'm the Pels...it should be Kuzma, Ingram, Zubac and first round pick. Ball is not worth much

I think just being on the list is crazy. Still wish we chased harder for Jimmy Butler.

We only get better by 1 win. Would not do.

The thing about that trade is we have no bench bigs.

Who are we gonna play Delon, Norm, miles and who? Unless you move ibaka to bench but then who's the starting 4 and backup 4

NOP needs to fire Demps before he has a chance to f*ck this up royally.

Ingram, Kuzma, Hart and a 1st should be mandatory....doing it for dogsh*t Ball with his loudmouth father and no jumper plus no Ingram or Hart, wtf is he thinking??? Surely Pascal, OG, Delon, FRP is comparible and arguably better...

Demps should be fired before he makes this this is true and should be fired for dealing with the Lakers period.

It is better and it also sticks it to the lakers at the same time. I think we have a real shot here.

What in tarnation, why are we so high? It's strange because just below that it says bets for where Davis lands on Nov 1 2020, and Boston leads the odds. Probably because they are not confident in the Raptors ability to retain him? Nonetheless, it's still only a 17 percent chance they're giving us, better than nothing though, lol.

If we make an AD trade, we automatically become an attractive buy-out team.

I haven't paid attention to the potential buy out candidates because of our depth, but PF/C hybrid is the defenite target.

It's because they know Masai will make it happen.

ANTHONY DAVIS TRADED BEFORE THE 2019 DEADLINE?
Wager Cut Off: 2019 4th February 12:00 PM

Houston +1200

I have never written HO MAN before, but I am currently feelin' it.

This also just means that money is being bet on the Raptors through that one specific site. Which is good, but also not necessarily indicative of anything. BUT STILL!
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Why do I get the feeling this is based on an online algorithm that looks for chat based on the team and davis.

sidsid wrote:The game theory element should still lead the Pels to aggressively shop AD at the deadline.

Why would AD's camp leak that he wants to leave now if he preferred the Celtics as a destination?

His camp knows that the Celtics have the likely best offer this offseason so if he was fine with that outcome he would have played out this year in silence. So not only does he not prefer that destination, you can infer that he explicitly wants to avoid it as the Celtics are not a trading option now.

Of course, Ainge can make this same logical analysis; so why would the Celtics make a godfather offer draining their team of assets for a player who is already signalling he isn't that interested?

The Celtics have the option of not being in win-now mode and may even lose Kyrie this offseason. There is no guarantee that the they would make that big offer with the available Intel.

Meanwhile, AD is now an expiring contract instead of 2 years as he is now, and the win now teams are even less motivated (or some like us, will have missed our window).

A big gamble.

It's definitely intriguing - what is the ideal endgame for AD here?

1. Boston has the best assets, but AD can't go to Boston this year and just made an offseason trade there more difficult.
2. Many signs pointing to LA - but it will also be a tough for them in the playoffs this year with limited depth.
3. Outwardly, this looks like LA trying to force New Orleans' hand into accepting a lowball offer - but this could also leave the door open for a team like Toronto that has some assets and is willing to go all-in this year.

Return to Toronto Raptors
