Regular Season Game 50: Orlando Magic (20-29) at Houston Rockets (28-20)

AG is very much still developing, comparing his numbers at 22 vs Vuc at 28 is futile to say the least.

A good PG or playmaker these past few games wouldn’t help Vuc become a better clutch player short of taking the ball out of his hands and just making him less of a liability. Fournier got to the rim just fine against Brooklyn, and Vuc got unfortunate on the tip (don’t blame him for that, loved his hustle). This game, Fournier and Vuc tried to run picks to get switches, and did, and Vuc had the advantage. The play worked just fine as it was intended, but he didn’t capitalise.

I won’t pretend that AG would have done a heck of a lot better. Some of his drive and dish plays at the start of the 4th were veeeeeery fortunate not to be turnovers. I just think Vuc really laid an egg not being able to post up a player who should be playing PG. Other losses aside, that should have been his matchup to dominate.

I watched at least 75% of all games in last 5 years and i can't remember single play in late game situation where Gordon was good decision maker with ball in his hands.
I don't think his passin,drbilling ability to drive or take man off dribble are good enough to be trusted with ball in that situations more.
Despite playing for how many coaches now? 5? He never was trusted by any to do so, so i would just on that notion alone make conclusion he isn't "closer" (Even tho i don't belive in clutch and other media's hot garbage, he is not good in iso situations in general, not that Vuc is great but makes right basketball plays more than anybody else on this team ).

Last game against Rockets Gordon pulled his slow-mo-euro in the clutch. If you can’t remember that far back then your opinion is pretty worthless.

And also you should look into AG’s numbers on drives. His efficiency is right there with Fournier in FG% and AST% on drives. His numbers are actually much better than Oladipo’s were at the same age.

AG turns the ball over slightly more, but that will improve as he does. He’s not a finished product yet, same way Oladipo wasn’t at 23. He may never be the caliber of Oladipo, but he’s doing well enough to earn the chance to try.
