Most of us thought it would take time for him to get back to former self. However I thought he would be able to at least spot up shoot but his shot is pretty bad right now. He literally is a negative on both ends. His is contributing next to nothing lately, I thought he would be helping us alot more by now. I am concerned.

Gordon is supposed to be an allstar. Allstars don't get held down by their teammates. People need to stop blaming Rozier and Brown for Hayward's struggles. He looks slow out there and he is not consistently aggressive. Neither of those things are the fault of his teammates.

I'm at a point where this has totally become a Hayward and Brad Stevens thing. first of all, Hayward needs to man up. Boogie is coming off a horrible injury and is already playing well. He's a 6'11 280 pound beast playing on a repaired achilles. Why is he playing well? Because he has the mentality that he's a bad man on the court. he trusts his skills.
Hayward on the other hand is completely shook. Mobb Deep Shook Ones. They should play that song when Hayward checks in. He's all in his head.

Stevens on the other hand hasn't helped. He's babying Hayward. First, he took him out of the starting lineup. So Hayward has gone from the offense filtering through hi at Utah, to standing in corners hardly ever touching the ball. The few times he gets the ball he looks scared and quick to pass. His shot is off too. He just looks lousy. He also looks out of shape. needs to lose some weight.

He needs this all-star break as much as anyone to clear his mind and rest.

Gordon Hayward is Jiri Welsch 2.0 at the moment.

I still have irrational faith in him that he'll turn things around come playoff time :)

His play is definitely concerning though, it's gotta be mental at this point. Hope he can figure things out, he's got time, especially in the East.

And that is what is concerning. I get that he lost his speed and leaping ability, and I get shooting has to do with your legs but Hayward cannot shoot at all. He is showing zero signs of improvement.

I'm one of Hayward's biggest detractors-- I'd trade him for expiring contracts in a heartbeat if I could-- but he's shown definite signs of improvement. I don't think he was a detriment on defense last night, at least not against the Nets' second and third tier players.

The problem is that he still has so far to go, and there is no evidence that he'll ever be close to what he was. If you take out the two 30+ point games, his offensive numbers are truly abysmal. In fact, if you take out those two games, Ojeleye has better numbers.

Hayward is untradeable and unbenchable, unless Ainge finds a new head coach. So will just have to continue to wince every time he throws up an airball or turns it over. Maybe by the time his contrtact runs out he will have become a decent rotation player.

True story. Sometimes i forget Hayward is on our roster. Not even kidding. He is so bad, i was optimistic he would start making some progression midway through the season with his shooting at least but he has been so bad i can't see him ever being back to his normal self again. Tragedy.

LOL Remember when everyone was outraged and indignant when Carter called Hayward a "role player". Those were the halycon days.

Heck, I'd be thrilled if Hayward was a good role player for us at this point..

I see that some reporters suggesting that Hayward's minutes be shortened, but how do you limit a 33 million dollar player to 10 minutes per game. This will be a huger quandary as we get closer to the playoffs... unless there's some real change in his play.

I was shocked by just how good Boogie was the other night after just a few games back. Except for his fouls, he was about as dominant as anyone on the floor and he was playing with damn all-stars. I swear he could have put in 36 effective minutes.

Wow. We went from "Hayward needs all of this year to get back to normal" to "he's trash, he'll never be anything but a scrub for the rest of his career, I'd trade him for a bag of balls and some new sneakers." And all in the space of a week and a half!

Speak for yourself. I've been saying he's a putz for months. Maybe if people didn't bother watching two-point Gordo on a regular basis, they might have more optimism.

Let's not have the "serious injuries take time to heal" excuse or the "it's just one game" excuse. Boogie Cousins had a serious injury too, and he looked pretty good on Saturday night. Sometimes serious injuries end careers. Just ask Grant Hill.

If it’s confidence that he is lacking, I don’t give a **** how unorthodox it is or how much money he’s making, just send him to the Red Claws for as long as it takes for him to feel like a confident basketball player again. At some point G league needs to allow for even all star level players to rehab there, perhaps we break the mold for the whole NBA and send him. At this point what’s the **** harm?

Truth: Hayward's terrible leg injury is going to be more than a 1 year recovery process. Heck, Paul George was considered the cream of Team USA in 2014 when he broke his leg. It'll be 5 years this summer, and he's now, finally, back to where he was. I think expecting the Hayward we signed is completely unrealistic at this point. The reality is that he's probably in a good deal of pain after every game, and probably carries it from game to game to a varying degree. So some days you'll get good Hayward, some bad. To his credit, he doesn't complain and keeps forging ahead. So eventually, yes, they'll get Utah Hayward back. Pretty doubtful he gets traded.

The doom and gloom in this thread is unbearable. It's like Curm made a bunch of alt accounts or something.

Would you rather have a thread dominated by groupthinking pollyannas? Watch the games and tell me how good he looks.

Sure he looks bad now. That doesn't mean his whole career is cooked. At the start of the year everyone was preaching patience with him, it's not even the all-star break yet and people are saying he's done.

The Boogie comparisons are waste of time. Different players, different injuries, different personalities. Who cares what cupcake part 2 is doing with the Warriors?

Who was giving him a full year? Most people were saying around Christmas he should start to look like old self, that was a month ago and he looks as bad as ever still. It will be a miracle if he contributes anything at all this year at this rate.

That's 100% Jerebko. He's angry after we didn't resign him to leave room for Hayward.
