He also had a ton of chances to have great singles matches and didnt stand out. I agree that Ambrose should have been better on promos and character work, but I'm not sure he's a great wrestler.

Re: WWE General Discussion II
If AEW can sign him, that'd be a huge get. Not huge in terms of him being some kind of amazing talent (which I think he can be) but he'd be the first big named, full time WWE superstar to jump ship.

I don't know whether it was all WWE or partly Ambrose or both to blame, but man did they botch that post-heel turn program. They bring Dean back with a new look and a new moveset; that part is smart. He clobbers Rollins on the night Roman announces he has leukemia; even if a lot of people saw it coming, it worked *great*.
Then after that, his character was something about wearing a gasmask and telling people their cities smelled bad. That is 1980s midcard ish, at best. People rightly lose interest and all that impact goes right down the drain.

I think he used to put on some pretty good matches back when he was with Shield and in the immediate aftermath of the Shield breakup. The thing is, they kept refusing to pull the trigger on him when he was the most over man in the company, and as a result it seemed like he just started phoning it in in the ring.
Not saying he's an elite worker or anything, because he's not. But I do think he's a lot better than what we've seen from him the past two years or so. If they put the title on him when he's hot, maybe he doesn't stop giving a sh*t.

Ambrose has looked burned out since he came back. There's no fire in anything he has done. Not his matches nor his promos. This is even before he turned heel.

The funny thing is that the segment with HHH was really good. Then they decided to have him get punked by Nia Jax. Like who in the hell is booking this ****?

Re: WWE General Discussion II
After the shield, Ambrose was the babyface that they wanted Roman to be and it completely caught him off guard. He was hotter than Lynch is now and near Summer of Punk levels of over. What they did with that momentum ruined any chance he had. That feud with Rollins was as good as anything they've done since the Attitude era.

Re: WWE General Discussion II
Personally speaking how I've felt about Ambrose since his return is this...
I was so sick of the Shield rehashing stuff and I wasn't interested in another Rollins vs. Ambrose feud since we
already seen this a few years ago. I'm tired of matches we've already seen.
Also there is a stench on RAW from all the guys that have been poorly booked. You got Lashley who's become a joke,
you got Braun who destroys everyone but can't ever seem to ever get over the hump. You got Elias who appears to
be a talented in ring worker yet is consistently booked as a comedy act who gets cheap heat does the same shtick
every freaking week. Don't even get me started on Ziggler and Owens and Zayn. Corbin goes around in circles, Jinder
goes from jobber to Main Event to jobber. Now Drew seems to not have a straight path.
The Tag Division is a complete joke and the womens division has the most boring act in the company in the Riott Squad
plus Natty and Bayley.
RAW is a depressing wasteland and the stench can affect you when every one has been killed off.
If he was on Smackdown it would be completely different whole different vibe. Only problem is the roster is to big
and there is to much talent and not everyone gets enough TV time every week and with co-branded PPVs TV is always
concentrating on feuds for one of the million tittles.

Re: WWE General Discussion II
Strowman's another guy they've effectively ruined at this point. He used to be absolutely molten. Now, I'm sick of him because, for all his talk of being a monster, he never wins. They really need to learn how to strike when the iron is hot with some of these guys. They always wait way too long and, by the time they finally do pull the trigger, the crowd has moved on because they got sick of waiting.
They did the same thing to Rollins. When he returned from injury, he got an enormous pop. Then, the next night, he comes out and cuts a heel promo and you could see the crowd just stop caring in real time. If he comes out and cuts a fiery babyface promo, he's the most over man in the company. He's still recovering from that idiocy.

Re: WWE General Discussion II
So WWE has officially confirmed he's gone and wishing him well after his contract expires in April do they even
push him and give him a meaningful match at WM or just job him to Nia for bailing on them?
This is why I've remained a fan all these years... What goes on behind the scenes is way more interesting then what
happens on TV. The kayfabe storylines are secondary. But when the real life stuff from behind the scenes gets used
on TV then that's when you got some real great stuff.

This is an overlooked part of the issue for me. We know the WWE has an amazing pipeline of talent...but pipelines are supposed to have two ends.
They get huge pops and rating jumps when they call up NXT talent or bring in a star from another organization. But they don't create any space for them, because they'd need to lay off a bunch of current workers and I don't think that's a habit they want to get into (and I can't say I don't understand, either).
It's great that women's matches get more time now, but it also exacerbates the minutes crunch. And they can't just fit everyone in by having 3-minute matches (though we have seen them try by having more 3-on-3s).
WWE has enough problems writing well for guys currently on the roster, let alone shoving in a bunch of new guys twice a year. What's the solution? Fire an equal number of guys every year at call-up time? Delay callups and risk losing young talent to other promotions? I dunno.

Re: WWE General Discussion II
WWE, realistically, should probably cut their roster in half. They employ so many jobbers they do nothing with when they could just get local guys to job when they need one. You should really only have a couple of full-time low-end guys under contract. WWE has like thirty at least.
They need to start cutting loose their lower card guys to give them a chance to go to the indies and reinvent themselves. If they do, WWE can then bring them back after letting someone else do the work of rehabilitating them. They've done this plenty of times in the past, like with Drew McIntyre recently. I'd say Bobby Lashley too, but WWE has basically already undone all the wonderful work he did building himself up with Impact.

If this is true, and I think Dean is the type tl back up his word, I hope the Zigglers and Revivals will just follow suit.
Lots of wrestlers from Impact were cut as well. Not sure what'll happen after Jericho declared AEW doesn't need them.

Doesn't really make sense with Becky's current character to team up with other women. She's like Austin. She hates everyone.

Re: WWE General Discussion II
WWE should let NXT be it's own thing, have that be the competition for AEW/place for the "indie" wrestlers and fans. Truly make RAW & Smackdown their own brands, run one PPV per month but alternate them per the two, only pairing them together during the big 4. That would alleviate a lot of the unhappy stars and stale product IMO. Have a draft once per year, the RAW and Smackdown after Mania.

She's already associated with them. This wouldn't likely be a "teaming up" thing. More of a "celebrating our accomplishments together." Like Eddie and Benoit.

He'd be the biggest name to jump to another company since Kurt Angle all the way back in 06/07. So this would be absolutely huge.
The question is, will WWE be petty enough to job him out or have him in a respectable program that will allow him to elevate someone else in a farewell program. Also will they be petty enough to mess with Renee.
