One other angle about this Gordon Hayward business of including him or not. Don't forget this is a Stevens guy. And while some of us may wish that Hayward and his salary were gone, I bet Stevens does not. And if you think a half a year (or a year and a half, however you might want to put it) will change the faith Stevens has in him and thus his desire to have Danny keep him, I think you are mistaken. I'd be surprised if Hayward doesn't finish out his contract here.

Normally I'd agree with you because we all know that about Danny. What I'm saying is that Brad would go to him and say "I do not want you to trade this guy." That's not something Brad would normally do either. Nah, we tried that last year with Kawhi and the Spurs. Came in with a weak offer by keeping Brown off the table, only offering picks.
We are going to need to start with Tatum to get AD, just to make sure another team doesn't leapfrog us like Toronto did.

Not a crazy notion, but I ask you...why does NOLA do this now instead of in the summer when there will be far more clarity on everything from a pick perspective and offer perspective. It makes zero sense for them to rush into anything. It would be knee-jerk and stupid.

IMO, Lakers could offer their entire team besides LeBron and I'd still prefer the Celtics package and probably even what the Knicks can offer.

I don't think we ever wanted him that badly. Kawhi is a guy who was already on a very successful organization, it's not clear what it'll take to get him to stay. I just really hope we can keep Smart and at least one of Brown/Hayward. Tatum would be absurd if we really hang onto him, but I'm not ruling out.

I think the Lakers are going to offer the Pelicans a monster deal of Pope, Ball, Kuzma, Hart, Zubac, 2019 1st round pick and 2021 1st round pick for Davis, Payton and Jackson. I think the Pelicans probably take it. Davis wants to go to LA. Deal done by Tuesday.

The whole purpose of bringing in Lebron is for a trade like this one. Lakers will overspend.

All depends on how much of a risk taker the Pelicans want to be. The 2 biggest risks are 1. Tatum suffering some serious injury, or 2. Danny backing out from including Tatum in a deal this summer.

Both scenarios would cause LA to dial back their offers as well.

People need to stop putting Gordon Hayward in AD trade proposals. Nevermind that he is a shell of a player that he was and making $30+ million per year, Hayward serves absolutely no purpose for a rebuilding New Orleans Pelicans team. They would get much better offers elsewhere.

I think it's entirely reasonable as one trade permutation among many. Tatum + 2 lottery picks +2 other 1sts is close on value to other team's best packages. Adding Smart or Brown on top of that just to bridge salary feels a bit like bidding against ourselves unless they force us into it, in which case we should probably pull back a pick or two. Feels like a copout claiming they still need to sell tickets, but they do. Lowe mentioned this as well, but they could hype up the Holiday/Tatum/Hayward/Okafor foursome. A Hayward and pick friendly package makes the most sense for us and may for them as well.

Very interesting. I guess there's the possibility that Kyrie & Danny have a mutual agreement that if Danny can land AD that Kyrie will commit long term, and if AD leaves that Kyrie is interested in leaving as well to team up with AD or KD. Who knows.
