Re: Anthony Davis Requests Trade, pt 2
It feels all good and well if they don't trade before the deadline. You would think that puts us in the catbird seat, but what if New York gets the number one pick? The palace are going to trade with the New York not with us. Zion Williamson and KP is it better centerpiece than anything we can offer. That's my worry

New Orleans will have told the world that the Laker's offer wasn't good enough and Magic and the Lakers will probably move on to Plan B. That leaves Ainge in the driver's seat. Not good for New Orleans in my opinion.
What monster offer? They have nothing except hyped underachieving players. Bucks could offer Middleton Maker and others and the Raps could offer OG Van Vleet and Siakam and have better packages than whatever the Lakers can. Boston can offer the most. Its good business to wait.
I understand "**** the Lakers" thing and all but you are not fair at all. Kuzma has 6 30+ point games this season alone (including one 41 point game). Guess how many Tatum has? ONE so far in his career!!! For such a highly regarded prospect (especially offensively) he sure doesn't manage to back it up when he has the opportunity. Kuzma similar to Mitchell has shown to have much more of that alpha mentality than Tatum.
Besides, before LeBron went down their record was 20-14 compared to Celtics 20-13 while playing in the much tougher western conference. So again, not fair to say their youngsters are underachieving bums.
Yeah Kuzma isn't a scrub. But he's also going to be 24 next season while Tatum is only 21. I think that alone gives Tatum higher value. Kuzma wasn't even in the NBA at Tatums age.

to be fair everyone is desperate, we're giving up Tatum without a guarantee from AD past 2020.Captain_Caveman wrote:Celts17Pride wrote:Captain_Caveman wrote:

If Lakers offer isn't good enough now then it's hard to believe it will be the best one in July
Doesn’t meant they will move on. They are desperate.

Its not even just about us— the Knicks surely would trade the #1 pick for him and that trumps any other offer. Hell, I’d venture that RJ Barrett [presumed #2 pick] also beats the Lakers package.
It just makes zero sense to do this deal now— the Lakers deal isnt going anywhere.
Back on the Knicks, their cap room number is different if they consummate an AD trade after signing free agents.
Yes, if they make AD the final piece the situation is different— order of operations is the key.
However, I doubt they try to pair up all 3 of AD, KD and Kyrie. I see them picking 2 of 3 and going with AD and KD if push comes to shove. Big 3’s require someone to step back and none of those guys strike me as willing to do so.

If Kyrie walks I'd use the assets on Booker or Kemba. If AD doesnt come, aim for Durant or Cousins or Gasol or Mirotic or Vucevic or Nurkic or...anyone else. The future is green and that's a fact. Been a long wait to see such stability. We have plans A thru Z and all of them have the same ending. Just a matter of time now.

I agree that Tatum has more value. No doubt about that. Just saying that Lakers has trash youngsters isn't really accurate or fair.

Just last night when Lakers were playing severely depleted, Ingram stepped up with 36/5/5. This board would go crazy if Tatum managed to achieve that. Viper would parrot that Tatum will be better than Davis eventually etc.

Right, but as to his points, agree on AD not getting traded to LA, disagree that this will allow us to drive the market down this summer.
We are ahead of them only because we can outbid them. Lowball NO, and that changes fast. Other teams like NY will also have their say this summer.
This is a go big or go home sort of thing.

The idea that we could keep Tatum is absurd. As it is, I'd consider myself Lucky if we could keep Smart - Tatum and Brown are gone if we do this and I'm in peace with it.

If the knicks win the lottery and dangle KP and zion for AD, what do you think celtics would have to offer to trump that?

If we are lucky on lottery night and via Kings get No2 or No3...Morant or Barrett...Then we could tell Pelicans...take 2 of 4 (Tatum & MEM Pick or Brown & Morant/Barrett)...and any combination of that 2 with 2 additional first (for example Clippers pick and our '20) and salary fillers would trump any other offer
There's only one statistics that's important: who won...Bill Russell

Nothing. We cannot trump that offer.

They’ll say we’ll take Tatum and the pick, you figure out the fillers.

The fact that the KNicks team would still be trash, would still be ran by Dolan, and AD wouldn't stay there beyond 1 year. No way the knicks give up Zion and KP for 1 year of AD.

If the most worrying offer involves the Knicks first winning the lottery and then deciding to deal Zion (there's an argument you keep the kid, no?) I'm very okay with that level of competition for AD. We'll win that.
But SWC is right. Tatum is gone, gone, gone.

Ever heard of cap space?
You might want to take it down a few notches here. Your childish nonsense doesn’t bother me all that much, but then I’ll just go back at you and it will escalate and I’d rather not have that.

I'm not too worried about AD leaving Boston and joining a 36 year old LeBron in LA. Lebron's PED's might not carry him past next year.
