Right, but as to his points, agree on AD not getting traded to LA, disagree that this will allow us to drive the market down this summer.

We are ahead of them only because we can outbid them. Lowball NO, and that changes fast. Other teams like NY will also have their say this summer.

This is a go big or go home sort of thing.

If the knicks win the lottery and dangle KP and zion for AD, what do you think celtics would have to offer to trump that?

Nothing. We cannot trump that offer.

Zion in New York is a license to print money. I don’t think they do the deal if they win the lotto.

fallguy wrote:If the most worrying offer involves the Knicks first winning the lottery and then deciding to deal Zion (there's an argument you keep the kid, no?) I'm very okay with that level of competition for AD. We'll win that.

But SWC is right. Tatum is gone, gone, gone.

I feel like Zion and KP would be an amazing core going forward. Zion would be an absolute mega star in NY...

Me, personally? I think I’d prefer the control Zion provides— the dude is a once-in-a-lifetime athlete and I’d rather take the risk that he’s the modern version of Shaq.

Knicks would be insane to give up Zinger and Zion. Heck I may be scared to just give up Zion. Can you imagine the sensation of Zion in NY Madison square garden?

Knicks are giving me nightmares.

If they get AD, and sign KD. You just know Kyrie is jumping ship, they would rule the East and atlantic division for the next 5 years.

If no deal to LA before the deadline, we are in control this summer, & it is a given that JT is gone, what do Ainge & Brad say to JT regarding the remainder of this season?

Ever heard of cap space?

You might want to take it down a few notches here. Your childish nonsense doesn’t bother me all that much, but then I’ll just go back at you and it will escalate and I’d rather not have that.

Zion would be great there, but they'd be (rightfully) seeing the possibilities of a major FA to pair with AD and would zoom right into relevance. This draft looks kinda weak so you'd think it would have to be Zion or bust.

My favorite comment in all this was someone speculating that New Orleans may not be in a hurry to add four or five Lakers to Julius Randle and recreate the 2017-18 Lakers.

If we are lucky on lottery night and via Kings get No2 or No3...Morant or Barrett...Then we could tell Pelicans...take 2 of 4 (Tatum & MEM Pick or Brown & Morant/Barrett)...and any combination of that 2 with 2 additional first (for example Clippers pick and our '20) and salary fillers would trump any other offer

They’ll say we’ll take Tatum and the pick, you figure out the fillers.

Tatum, MEM pick, LAC pick, Rozier S&T, Yabusele for AD. Resign Morris

Could leave us with:

Irving/Smart/veteran PG min guy
Brown/Barrett/Dozier
Hayward/Morris/Ojeleye
Davis/Timelord/veteran ring chaser
Horford/Baynes/rookie with our '19pick

Davis, Irving, Horford, Hayward, Brown, Smart, Barrett, Morris, Williams and Baynes...by far the best team in NBA

Damian Lillard, Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler, McCollum too.

It’s funny how when we had the Brooklyn pick and they had the worst record that everyone on the forums was like “But it’s only a % to land at 1 therefore cannot be valued as high”

But now the same people are claiming “Well the Knicks would trade Zion + for AD” .... even after the odds have been smoothed.

The Celtics hate is so real. I love it.

David Aldridge has been beating that drum for a while— I kinda of agree with it, to be honest.

there's this thing called the salary cap. If they get AD, and sign KD, they won't have the money to sign Kyrie. Simple as that. You have to look at more than just those salary, they bought out Noah as well and I don't recall them stretching him. His entire salary counts in 2019 I think.

I think we might be approaching the point where Marcus Smart is a starter, period.

For a dude with one year left on his term? Irving didn’t require Brown OR Tatum. And he had 2 years left. And AD is not light years better than Irving. Is he a but better? Maybe. Sure.

Brown is more than good enough. If thats not good enough for NO, so be it. It’s not like NO isn’t in a position of weakness. Also, how many trades have started with massive proposals and when the deal comes out people are saying “that is all it took?”

Still, no one looks at the past deals to have solid ideas of current ones.

How often do teams go from worst in the league to gaining three superstars in one off-season?

If I were a young player I would probably not really care about where I played, other than being mildly annoyed at having to move to a new city (though New Orleans is a lot nicer than Boston if you're a young rich athlete I bet). Does Jayson Tatum play less hard because there are rumors he could be traded to the Pelicans, where he'd instantly be their best player? I kinda doubt it.
