LA is a basketball city. It's the basketball players that are treated like true gods. NBA players want to be Magic, Kobe, etc.
No one wants to be Kershaw or Rivers.
Is Kobe that guy that used to score 27 ppg on 30% shooting?

Where are you hearing they are in contact with ainge?jeremym480 wrote:I'm hearing that Dell isn't fielding calls because they're cutting ties with him and possibly Gentry, as well. However, they are waiting until after the All-Star break. Also, whoever is taking over (my guess is Danny Ferry) has been in contact with Ainge and are talking out something for the summer.
This is just my opinion but my guess is that we work something out by taking on Solomon Hill and sending either Horford or Hayward (possibly to a third team). That's something the Lakers or the Knicks would not do because they're trying to build their Big 3's through free agency and taking on Hill would prevent them from doing that.
I think the deal ends up being - AD and Hill for Tatum, Brown/Smart, Hayward/Horford, and at least two 1st (one of them being Memphis for sure).
Then, we try to bring back Morris and Rozier. Wyc says that he doesn't care about the luxury tax, so as long as no one goes crazy and offers them big money then you bring both back for depth and continuity. Plus, since they should both get decent deals then they will be nice trade chips this time next year.

On one of the Pelicans boards that I visit. They have a poster who is basically their version of reload...
We will see though because if AD is traded before the deadline then him or his sources aren't very good.

This makes a ton of sense— theyre gunna wait for the summer cuz there is no way you let Dell Demps make the move that shapes your franchise for the next decade and youre not going to rush the hiring process to appease LeBron/Klutch

Still I am trading one of Brown or Tatum + everything else for him.
He is top 5, if not top 3 in any given year. Don't understand why he's now being underrated on this board.
He is a perennial MVP candidate and significantly better than Kyrie. And I love Kyrie.
If Ainge can pull this off, Tatum is 100% gone. Everyone has to come to terms with that now. The only hope is we are able to keep at least one of Smart or Brown; if we can keep both, Ainge is a miracle-worker. That will largely depend on what the lottery gives the Knicks and Kings.

Kyrie was cold blooded in the Finals against GS. He is a superstar in any conversation. To say AD is light years ahead of Kyrie is not only disengenous...it’s flat out wrong. Is AD better? Yes as I have stated. However, not by light years. Thats just not right. I had no idea AD was Russell, Wilt and Jordan all rolled into one.
Did you even read my reply? I said Kyrie was borderline top-20 at the time of the trade. You can’t refute this claim without sounding extremely biased.

Having lived in LA, this is absolutely true. LA is a Lakers town 150%. The Lakers walk the city like Gods. They get anything they want, whenever they want. They are bigger stars than even those people in Hollywood. There is no other experience in Sports like being a Los Angeles Laker, I can assure you.

Re: Anthony Davis Requests Trade, pt 2
This idea that we are trading Tatum, Brown or Smart, Hayward or Horford, and two lottery picks for AD seems like NO's wet dream. Danny needs only offer more than anyone else, and I doubt any other team could come remotely close to the package listed above. LA certainly can't. Danny is not going to throw in lottery picks or great players for the F of it.
Look at what Kawhi got for SA, and Kawhi is a top 5 MVP type player. Maybe not quite the level of AD, but he is first or second team all-NBA any year he is healthy for the next 7 tears. He got San Antonio a solid but not great player on a huge deal, a heavily protected no. 1 pick in a crappy draft, a mediocre prospect and a couple of cheeseburgers. That was it. For Kawhi Leonard. And the Cs are expected to pay 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 times that? Only if that is the genuine market price.
And unless AD commits beyond one year, while making noise about wanting to be in LA, there is no way Danny pays anything close to that for a rental. If AD leaves, if would basically wipe out the 2020s for the franchise.
Let me put it this way. Imagine that Bill Gates and I both want to buy the same used sports car. I offer $100,000 and Bill Gates offers $125,000. They owner says to Bill Gates: I won't sell it to you because you are worth $90 billion so I want another $500,000 for the car. What does Bill Gates do? That is what Danny will do.

I should have said Kyrie isn’t a top 20 player to you? Top lists are whatever you want to make of them. He is easy top 15 pushing 10 in my book. Dude is incredible especially as a guard.

No he isn't. MVP players get out of the first round of the playoffs, not barely getting in.
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

We have a BINGO! Damn man, I forgot all about KL. You are right about that. Of course most everyone here would have traded Tatum, Brown and picks for KL as well. We should dig up those trade ideas and compare to what the reality was.
Point is most people here lose their minds when some “big” name becomes available and will trade everything for that player.

I forgot that AD only played 8 games this year with a quad injury that will have to be managed for the rest of his career— Kawhi is the perfect analogy!

This is true for sure. AD also has already had 2 concussions I believe and then a rash of smaller injuries. These all add up over time.
