I call BS. What if this team lights off, makes the Finals...beats whomever. You aren’t blowing that up.

That dude is FoS.

Makes the Finals......beats whomever? Sounds like you're the one FoS here. Sorry.

I assume you missed the “what if” portion of my statement and whomever is just that. Assume GS. I’m not assuming anything. So no, I’m not FoS becuase of...reading comprehension.

If Danny manages to not include Brown and Mem pick that would be a win.

For one year of AD?

That’s a steal if we are able to keep the Grizz pick and Brown

Brown+Smart+Davis can make you an all-time great defensive team for years to come imho.

Agreed, at least to the degree of knowing we have to give up something of value and I’d offer up Tatum before the combo of Brown AND Smart. Depth will still be a priority but I also think you get more redundancy in acquiring AD if you still have Tatum compared to the other two. Tatum is the greater talent no question, but roster construction wise I agree.

Question is more which one of Smart or Jaylen do you package with Tatum and picks?

Given the salaries, It is almost certainly Smart.

Report I recently saw is he is looking at any place but LA as a one year rental. You don’t trade Tatum or Brown for a one year rental and I don’t care how arrogant you are about him “buying in”. Thats ridiculous. You treat it as a one year deal and if by some chance he changes his mind, its gravy. Now seeing that he has put NO in an even bigger hole. High lottery picks and a mid level player and filler is all you get.

Yes, Lebron's birthdate.

A few things;

- Lakers can only sign him if they basically punt next season to preserve cap space,
- Does he really want to join 36y.o. LeBron and not much else by the time he is a FA?
- Would he really leave a successful team in Boston, with his buddy Kyrie signed up long term?

I get that, but him to trying to force his way to LA right now at least expresses a desire to play for the Lakers. Not sure how guys have them at like 5%

Exactly. One year. You don’t trade young studs with term for that. If any NBA team does, that is not smart. I wouldn’t trade a top 3 pick for him. If you had him for 2, like Kyrie, then that changes the equation just a little bit.

Oh, that would be beautiful, but given the fact that he has torn his ACL, I can't see him signing the qualifying offer and then playing until he becomes a FA. I see him taking the money as soon as it's offered.

He has a much more credible “taking his talents to Europe” threat

Your "what if" portion is about as likely as the Pels trading AD to the Lakers before the deadline.

Is there a possible scenario where the Pelicans hold on to Anthony Davis until next year's trade deadline? What are the odds of that happening? And how does that affect Celtics' moves this offseason?

Can the Pelicans even tell him, "GFY and your trade request, go sit for a whole calendar year"? Does the league/NBPA have a say in it?

I’m getting the impression (from Smitty and others) that this is going to go the same way that the Butler and PG deals went. AD isn’t going to commit to signing with the Cs long term which means Danny doesn’t included the best assets and NOP eventually moves on the summer. You definitely don’t trade Tatum or Brown or top draft picks for a one year rental of anyone. Its simply not worth it. Sign KD or someone else or just move on. If AD already has a house in LA (like LeBron did) and thats where he wants to play then thats probably where he’ll end up.

Interesting theory. Didn't think of that angle. Would be funny if they pulled it off. Would be awesome for us.

The Thunder certainly think it's worth it.

LOL at just sign KD and move on. If we could just sign KD we would have already done so.

There isn't going to be another opportunity like this for a while (at least until Giannis), at a time when we have assets piled high. It's strike now, or never.

Not if Kyrie is bailing and AD is going to, or joining him in, LA a year later.

Danny only did the KG deal knowing he had KG signed here.

I don't think you know this Danny Ainge guy very well.

What's your Plan B, btw? Watch Kyrie walk and compete for 6th place every year?

KG had a house in LA, too.
